sounds like a hair problem, cover up drain. remove to screws on the trip lever, as your pulling it out, do not spin or turn it. you will disturb the adjustment. the problem is in the trap. try a coathangerfirst. you should pull out, as we call it a (dogtail, the clog, soap, hair, dirt, scum). if you don't get lucky, rent or buy a hand spinner to take care of it.

You can use a wet vacuum cleaner. But you have to go past the tubs overflow pipe. In other words get in there really far. Some have a grease trap try opening that and use it.

If that isn't helping, you may have hair in your drain...you need something called a snake, found at your local hardware/home improvement store. Try that, and if that does not solve your problem, it definitely will help the tub drain a little.

Try using a plunger. You have to hold something over the overflow drain. It may need to be snaked out.

A long wire with a hook on the end. If there's something jammed in there push it down, and try to hook the clog with the wire and pull it out. Good luck!

get yourself some sulfuric acid. they sell it at the hardware store. be VERY CAREFUL using it - there are all sorts of warnings on the bottle - but it will work when nothing else will.
