Have them tinted, Like with window film.
Blinds work, but are a pain.

There is a film on the market that covers the glass, providing a tint that will help reduce glare... but be careful... most of the stuff they sell doesn't last long and is unreliable. Be sure to read the instructions carefully and follow them precisely, or else it will not adhere to the glass properly. This film runs about $20 (cdn) and will do 1 large window or 2-3 smaller ones. If you've got the money, you can order new windows or glass that is smoked to provide the same thing... of course this is a far more expensive route, but far more reliable in the long run

Go to LOWES.
They have a wonderful selection, of window tints. Any where from dark glass to mirror..
These are "films", or plastic film that you glue to your windows, and they will reduce the glare, and no one will be able to see inside your house.
I have seen them on resturants and they look wonderful. I have also seen the "gold colored" ones on office buildings, where, when the sun hits them, they give off the gold mirror effect! Beautiful to look at when your outside, and great to look at when inside! Keeps the house cooler, (as the Suns rays dont shine into the room and heat it up), and it will keep your drapes lasting longer for the color.
But, the only draw back I see, is that you have to go outside to see what the weather is like, as in winter or summer, it always has that "dark tint" and you cant tell if its blistering hot outside or cold as an ice cube :)
I wish you well..

You can also put up solar screens. I put them on the kitchen windows and it cut the heat down in there considerably. You can buy the material by the roll at any home center. I made frames out of wood and attatched it with a staple gun. You can also get screens made, but you will spend more.

Just saw a wonderful Product at HOME DEPOT or LOWES that is like the old fashioned Color Forms from the early 60's!
It is a removable film, not sticky like Contact Paper, that you can lay on the glass, and it comes in patterns!
You can lift if off when ever you want to !
No one can see in from the outside either!
Stained glass, Clouds to mention a couple!
REally neat to see!
Check it out!!!

Blinds are a choice.
Curtains, ones you can open and close, and are semi translusent so light will continue to get in and brighten the room. Thsi will also look well with the doors.
