I was flipping through some design magazines and this has been puzzling me. How do designers hide the electric cord for lamps that sit in the middle of the room. I don't want my couches against the wall. How do I add ambient light without tripping over these cords? Thanks!

I have soft sheets and a good mattress. Do you think I should have empty drawers or is table top space better? I'm using a navy blue comforter and white curtains. What color should I paint the walls?

Can any developer tell me how much they are paying a sq ft for hard and soft costs of a high end residential project? Specifically in the LA area.

I am pricing out a lot, and I am currently figuring $400/sq ft for hard and soft costs. So a 5k sq ft house will set me back 2m to build.

Ok, I'm 21 and I've done some painting but I've never done a whole room that the bottom half was light blue and the top was orange and yellow smeared all in the time the person would be at work!! He moved in and the ppl before him obviously thought they were Picaso or something! Anyway I have very little money but wanted to do something big for him and I want to paint his room as a surprise. I have about 10 hours to get it all done (it doesnt have to be dry by then) The top that is orange and yellow is really bright.. do i prime? Also my dad is into naturaul, earthy colors. He also loves hunting and greens. I was thinking a dark tan or a kind of kahki green. And thoughts? Also how many coats? And do I really have to buy the expensive paint because I was going to get the medium price one. ANY advice, on anything and any tips would all be helpful. How do to it faster, cleaner, and a great color would be great. And then I thought about 2 or 3 colors. LOL, please assist me!! God Bless!

The bathroom is very small. I'm going to paint the walls this week and I'm thinking about painting the cabinets the same color to help make the room look bigger and more cohesive, since the toilet is white and the shower tile and sink are a taupe/pink color. I'll probably paint the walls a warm off-white/beige. I'm going to use maroon towels (from my old master bath) in there. Will that look good?

okay my entire basement has wood paneling. Unfortunately my room is in the basement. I am sick of looking at these walls. They don't match the rest of my pink theme.

I want to paint the walls, but I don't want it to be a big deal. And I don't want it to be too hard either.

My question is...

1. is it possible?
2. Is it more difficult than just painting regular walls?
3. Would you recommend it?
4. Would I have to remove the panels before doing the job?

I hired a kitchen design company to do a total gut and remodel of my kitchen. The contract says that appliance installation is included. The appliance company dropped off the appliances in my garage. My kitchen contractor is claiming that only the "installation" of the appliances is included, not the physical movement of the appliances from outside the house to inside. Is this typical? I feel like I'm getting ripped off because I might have to spend extra money to get a mover.

Okay. My room has been the same since before I was born. It has yellow walls with a blue accent. I hate it. Omg it's so baby. I have added wall stickers, but it's still lame. Mom says I can repaint it any way I'd like. I just have to buy it. I am doing a room makeover!

About Me: I'm 14 and LOVE bright colors. Pink and Orange are awesome, but white needs to be included. I love my dogs and my mice, but don't want them in my room style. I'm loud and complicated.

My room: I have a bed that had a wood headboard. I need a bedskirt. I have a OLD end table for my laptop that will be replaced. I have a pink chair that is a mushroom chair STAYING. I have a white thing that I'm going to double stack as a tv stand and cover the top with fabric.

I am going to make my own curtains and blanket. I am going to get a through for my chair and make accent pillows. I learned to sew when I was 7 and am pretty good at it, so no fears. I'm getting closet beads. I have beige carpet in my room. <3

mission in appearance, i am basically planning on taking a piece of sheet 3/4 in width and cutting the "panes" out of it as i dont have the experience to do anything else that i know of.
i will then, instead of glass be putting sheets of wood inside it.
this im thinking will give the panel look without the tools and experience needed for that.
Am i correct in my thinking? - and what is the best way to cut those out.
i have a table saw, router, jigsaw and creativity.
any thoughts or advice would be greatly appriciated and are HIGHLY NEEDED.
thank you very much
