Hang colored crepe paper strips from the ceiling that go down to 6 inches above the floor. Divide the room into four different areas: sleeping, studying, entertainment, and dressing. Each area should have a different crepe color.

So walking into and thru the room is like going thru the jungle.

You could paint diagonal stripes - most striping is done vertically or horizontally, so diagonally would be different.

You could choose a cool theme, like Harry Potter/Hogwarts, Coca-cola/50's diner, Winter Wonderlans, etc. and then get all of the accessories to go with that theme.

You could make your own bedspread & curtains - then you'd know for sure that no one else would have those same things.

You could hang things from the ceiling, like snowflakes, stars, angels, butterflies, etc.
