Paint the walls a beige/cream/tan color and paint the wall at the end a darker color - say brown. This will make the end wall appear closer to you. Next hang mirrors combined with some small pictures toward the center of the two longest walls, so they reflect into each other and visually increase the width. Hang them higher and lower than usual forming somewhat of a large narrow rectangle on each wall. By hanging them high and low (and in between!) the eye looks up and down and creates a sense of the space being shorter.

Hope this helps! :)

Hang mirrors in it. Mirrors are one of the best ways to make a room seem larger. You can usually find framed mirrors at places like Hobby Lobby. If the walls are white, hanging paintings, especially dark ones, will NOT make the hallway look bigger, but will actually make it look narrower.

Painting the walls with vertical stripes might fool the eye a bit.
Then hang interesting art and framed pictures. Anything that will draw they eye away from the length of the hall.

The brighter the color the bigger it will look, but I think that lighting is also important and with the right lighting you can afford to do a little darker paint...
You want lighting that will brighten your space, but not cause too many shadows... recessed can lights would be nice...

add lots of pictures and color.. make it interesting.. then you wont be focusing on how long & narrow it is.
