I’m looking for an inexpensive look-alike of the classic Eames/Herman Miller lounge & ottoman as seen on the set of Frasier. I’d love to have the real thing, but alas, I’m just a poor student. The most I can spend is $700.00. Does anyone have any ideas where one could be found? Thanks!

Will be applying for a permit next week to constuct an addition on my recently purchased home. Do I need to wait for the permit before I can begin demolition of existing walls, roof etc. or is the permit needed for both demolition and construction? I live in NJ.

I use my mixer often enough for it to be a pain to move into the center of the counter so I can use it. The rubber on the bottom is great for allowing the mixer not to move at higher speeds but makes it so that I have to lift it from the back courner of some counter space. It lives under a cabinet that is too low to lift the head of the mixer. I'm looking for some kind of base with wheels or a sliding part that would allow me to set the mixer on it and slide it on some sort of track into the middle of the counter. Does anyone know of something like this or have any creative ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

cupboards, and units, dishwashers, american fridgefreezer, you name it we got it but the problem is that to get everything to fit in we needed to locate the electric oven about 4 feet away from the gas hob,now the dishwasher we bought fits perfectly under the gas hob where the oven was,its a white style dishwasher,do u think that it would be safe to slide it under the hob unit or would it be to risky, the way it is it would be hob fitted into the worktop surface and dishwasher plumbed in underneath it,

Does anyone have any experience with bathroom suits from salvage yards in the UK?

Im thinking it would be a more cost effective way of getting a really nice bathroom suit. Is it cheaper than buying new? Are there any potential problems to look out for? Any other advice on this appreciated. Thanks.

Are they always black? Are they more expensive than granite? Why does Martha Stewart recomment NOT using marble, then put it all over her "new" farmhouse in Vermont?(retorical question)

The room is almost a super pale yellow/linnen color with hard wood floors. The I have an iris and some bamboo, a Live Laugh Love chinese picture, some books, and a green and white leaf pattern chair. The vibe is natural/hippy. I want to do something cool on top of the hutch that would add to the room but I dont know how to decorate this. Any suggestions?

My living room has taupe and opens into my dining room which has denim blue walls. My living room furniture is big overstuffed denim with black media/shelves/accents and white curtains. Then there is the overwhelming Simpsons collection that is all over the place...that's not me. Anyways, I just put copper slate tile down in the entryway so the sunshine yellow had to go. But, I can't decide on a new color...any suggestions?

Our house is definitely a "starter" house and a fixer upper, and it isn't bad... except for the tiny sized ONLY bathroom. The layout is horrible, the decorating is horrible, and the storage is..ew. That is all I can say. Here is our lovely little piece of you know what.

Color ideas? Storage ideas? Any ideas to make this space useable? lol, oh and the shower curtain is staying :P I was planning on red for the room, but I heard dark colors make the space look smaller. We like the whole "mod" red, black, white look..

I have had several people tell me that Maple cabinets with a dark glaze or stain are very in. I need advice about floor colouring to go with these. The appliances will be black and I need help from you decorators out there as to what colour tile I should pick for my floors. Maybe even suggest a wall colour.

I am getting unfinished cabinets so that I can paint them. My kitchen is a blank slate, I just don't know what to do! I have hardwood floors, lots of windows. I don't even know what color to paint my walls. I would like to have some color in my cabinets, I want them to be fun, but elegant. We live in the country in SC and my house is a little cottage (picket fence and all) Colors I already have in my kitchen are: my china is pink, my Kitchenaid is a pale yellow, my hoosier cabinet has some green in it. I really am a country type person, so modern looks like "black and white" won't work! I would like to use several colors if possible, and I will be doing some distressing. Let me know what you think, if you have interesting cabinets I would love to see pictures!
