As a rule, the flooring and the color of the countertop should match.
For the flooring, I would recommend a travertine tile for the flooring. The Versailles Pattern in Noce Travertine would be wonderful with the dark glazed maple cabinetry.
You can see a picture of it here: http://www.naturallstones.com/TRAVERTINE_TILES/Noce_Travertine_Tiles/noce_travertine_tiles.html
For the backsplash, I think you could use Desert Mirage by Daltile. As a backup, I would recommend Rain Forest. Rain Forest is my first pick, but I dont know how you feel about green.
You can see this here:

I also want to recommend a countertop to you. This is just to give you an idea so that everything would flow together. My idea is for you to use Kona Beige by Silestone.
For your paint color, I also have two ideas. I am recommendeding Valspar, which is availiable at Lowe's. The first color is Dust Stone and the second is Windswept. These paints are from the Earth Elements collection and the neat thing about the paint is that you add granite crystals and it creates this wonderful affect. I recommended the two colors to correspond with the backsplash tiles I chose for you. I think the green in the Rain Forest backsplash would complement both of the paint colors extrememly well.
Even if you dont pick my answer as the best, I would love it if you gave me some feedback and tell me what you like or disliked with my ideas.
I hope I helped!

Pick a stain for your cabinets that YOU like - not what is 'in'.
If you have dark appliances and medium wood walls, you need to add some light.
Try a white or ivory with specks or small designs of black and the brown of the cabinet stain. This will tie the room together and open it up at the same time.
Then paint the walls a favorite color [ not too dark a shade ] or to match some kitchen collectibles you already own.
Add a print with the wall color in it for curtains and placemats, and match small appliances or cover with appliance covers.
Only leave stuff you use every day, or decorative items on counter - it will look great.

With such dark appliances, you want something neutral on the floor like a coffee stone tile color to offset the dark appliances. Also, paint the wall with anything that is neutral---shades of the earth---grand canyon stone or lighter like a sand color. I recently bought a house and had to choose tile, cabinet colors, and stains and if it's in the same family ...in this case earth tones....it should go well...why the black appliances....it just seems very in high contrast to the maple cabinets....

I had a house built 2 years ago. We have the maple cabinets, with a dark finish not quite as dark as cherry though. I also have black appliances and our floor is ceramic tile a tan color with a beige grout. Not knowing what you have chosen for the countertops, I would go with a light brown to tan. I have granite countertops with browns, tans and black so I didn't want to go w/ any white. You may not either. The paint color can be close to the floor color or atleast in the same family. Our house looks real nice I'm sure yours will too what ever you decide.

My husband & I just built a new house(we've been in 3 months). We choose maple cabinets with a nutmeg stain, which is a dark stain with warm red color, it's very warm feeling and very rich looking (everyone comments on how great our kitchen is). We put 20 inch tile in from menards with a green/brown/rust/purple color-it's really hard to explain-it's called India green and it has a sparkle in it, we used a brown/gray grout. Again we get many compliments on the tile. We have green/black looking granite counter tops. Our appliances are stainless. Our wall color is latern glow (from wal-mart) which is a yellowy/beige color and runs from the kitchen into the breakfast nook and great room and in our formal dining room, again we get loads of comments on how warm the paint color makes the house feel, it's very inviting. I wish you luck in your adventure of building, it very fun (stressful-yet worth it when it's done)! Email me for pictures if you'd like -peytalexis@yahoo.com.

It depends on the amount of light (natural) that you have in your kitchen. I recommend getting samples of what you like and place them on the floor during various times of day. You willl see how it complements the maple cabinets depending on the amount of natural light you receive. I would only go dark, with black appliances, if you have natural light 60% of the day time hours. If you don't, offset with either a light terra cotta or golden rod for the walls (amazing contrast with slightly darkened maple). By all means, put the colors together first and you'll see how they work. Enjoy your new kitchen!

Make the wall color like a sandy beach color. The floor could be a green tile.

What color are you planning for the cabinets? Dark what? Dark chocolate or expresso brown? Charcoal? What color are your countertops? Fill us in with that info and we'll take it from there and get in gear and give you some valid suggestions.

Try maybe a dark grey. Make sure you get a sample first and like it all together. Also depends on the color of the counter tops.

You should pick colors that flow with the rest of your house. You should probably get some magazines and look for what kinds of styles you like first.
