I am looking to re-decorate my kitchen and living room with a country theme (more rustic and southern than frilly) CHEAP. I was wondering if anyone might know of web-sites to check out (other than ebay because I've been there).

I currently have very nice oak cabinets and white appliances. My walls currently have green/burgandy sponge painting all over white walls and burgandy trim with a burgandy/green border near the ceiling. It is too loud for me. I was thinking of painting the walls a creamy soft yellow. I don't want to change the burgandy trim if I don't have to. Also, I was thinking of changing the flooring to either terrecotta colored tiles (or lineloum) or maybe a neutral/beige tile. It is a rather large kitchen with medium sunlight, but very nice receding lights in ceiling. I also have an oak island in the middle of the room, and a white table and white chairs with oak legs. Your thoughts would really help me. Thanks!

BK

P.S. Can I paint directly over the sponge painting?

I'm moving to a new apartment with tons of wall space, and I don't have enough artwork / wall hangings to fill it! What are some good do-it-yourself ideas for this?

FYI, I'm almost 29, so tacking up posters is too juvenile for me.

It will be 12 foot by 7or 8 foot. The 12 foot side is along the back of the house with the conservatory coming out about 7 or 8 foot.

Wanted one side to be brick with fan lights at the top.The long external side with a two foot high brick wall with windows above and the other external wall to have double doors and a window either side.

Have been quoted about £8500 including a plumbed in radiator, electrics done, plastering done and a ceiling fan.

Is this reasonable?

It doesn't matter if it is online or in a store. A low price would be nice but I still want a chair that is comfortable and that looks nice

I have painted my kitchen with ordinary wall and ceiling paint but there's a couple of places where I've slipped up and there's now paint splodges on some wooden panelling and on the side of the kitchen units.
What's the best way to clean these up?

I have an old wedding ring quilt. It has been in my family for years and slept under my most of my family, from my grandparents to my children. My kids even used it as a race track and ran their match box cars on it at my grandmother's house. It is getting thread bare and needs to be retired from use. I wanted to take pieces of it and frame them for my children and their families so they can enjoy looking at it and remembering our passed on family members. It carries so many memories for each of us. How can I frame it so it will be protected and where can I find frames to use? Has anyone ever had this done before? I want to frame it myself and add even more to it's memory. I want to put it under glass to keep out the dust.

I have recently moved into a house that I love for it's size and most of its features but my kitchen is SOOOO ugly. The bad part is that it is also old so ripping up the countertop and pulling out the cabinets would really do more harm than good. Can I paint metal cabinets? Can I paint tile? And what do you do with and countertop that can not be removed and there is NO working with the colors? Can you apply something over it? I need lots of help.
