I've just moved into a rather funky warehouse type shared apartment- not uber ritzy or anything- and it's got a really good artsy vibe. However- I'm a little frazzled as to how I can separate my living and bedroom areas without causing too much damage OR costing far too much money.

Firstly- there is ZERO natural light in my area- as it's partly underground. The fluro's work well to illuminate the place but it's really draining. Lamps are obvious- any more creative ideas?

Second- there are exposed beams/rafters for the ceiling. Fine for most of the place- but I feel a little put off when trying to go to sleep. How can I go about covering/ disguising this? It's just bad Feng Shui!

Lastly- there are no solid walls either- they are half cut out or benches or recesced alcove things. How can I make an illusion of a more solid wall without breaking the bank to build one!

I have a new apartment that we're fixing up. Well the people that owned it before we did made the bathroom floor out of that indoor\outdoor carpet(that green plastic stuff.) They glued it to the cement and I don't know how to get it off so I can put tile down. If you know how will you please let me know....thanks!

The design on my bedroom ceiling is horrible. Before we moved in someone put a design on it that looks like when the paint was wet they got this idea of making little points sticking out all over the ceiling. Can someone please tell me how I can remove this. I don't want to scrap it off because It will be to messy to do. I need any good suggestions. Fixing this room would make me feel so much better.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what color to paint the walls. I have to picture windows in the room with navy blues walls. The area rug that I have picked out has blues, creams, yellow, black, dark orange, red, and a little green. The room is also very small and has my dining area connected with no specific color except the same drapes. I think on the walls I would like a neutral color but I do not know what. Does any one have any thought?

I would like to be able to show my personality in my home and just hanging pictures doesn't seem to satisfy my need for personal expression. Since I can't paint/wallpaper I am stumped. I do not want tacky, I want style. Suggestions?
