I am finishing my basement. I'm finished with framing, drywall and I've painted the drywall. I have also installed the door.

I'm ready to put in the trim, but I am wondering if I should paint the trim with a sprayer first, or if I should put the trim (MDF, by the way) on and then prepare it for painting.

I'm leaning toward putting it on, and then painting with a sprayer to make it look really nice, but I'm afraid that it might overspray onto other already finished areas.

Can you provide me some advice?

I am currently in the process of redecorating my room, and I chose a minimalistic Japanese vibe. Keeping in mind that i want to refrain from busyness and clutter, what are some good accesories I could use in my room that would work with the them? Do you know of any DIY accessories that I could make? Any ideas, or tidbits are welcome! Please share your decorating knowledge with me! ~Thanks~

I currently have a beige sofa but that gets really dirty with a 2 year old. What colors would look best with this color scheme? No white, no beige. Thanks!

Oh, the red wall is on the darker red side as opposed to bright red.

This is kind of a 2 part question. I heard on tv that fake plants and flowers are bad fend shui in a home. Anyone know if this is true? My mom has fake plants, trees, flowers all over her house and its the house I grew up in and I never was really comfortable there. I dont really consider it my childhood "home", that title goes to house i lived in when i was even younger. Of course there could be a million reasons for why I would feel that way, feng shui might have nothing to do with it but I wonder. Anyone out there know anything about feng shui? i also had some issues as a kid/teenager that started after we moved into my moms house (age 8 and over). again-could be for any reason but could "bad" feng shui have anything to do with it? okay for all you "feng shui is crap" folks out there, I understand your position but I happen to think theres something to it so if you dont have anything constructive to add please keep your opinions to yourself. thanks to all.

My living room is going to be laminate wood flooring, but I am thinking of using another surface for the entry area, to create a sort of mudroom space. What flooring should I use? I want something very durable because the kids run in and out with sand and mud. Slate? The style of the house is rustic, so the polished or modern look wouldn't fit. Thanks for your input!

Right now, we are repainting our living/dining area. Most of the area will be painted in a neutral beige color (either Glidden's "Cookie Crumb", "Brown Bag" or "Bonjour Beige"). We want to paint over our now wood paneling that divides the room from the bedrooms. What warm color would go best with mahogany leather furniture & honey hardwood floors? We were thinking a Pottery Barn-esque army green or chocolate brown? Any other suggestions???

Alrighty, so my room right now is painted a lightish purple. I am not gonna repaint the whole room. But, instead I want to do some patterns or designs. What are some easy patterns to do? Also, I don't know what colors to use. I was hoping on doing yellow and green (my two fave. colours). But, when I looked online for bed spreads and pillows there were none that were the right color. So, what other two colors would look good? Also, what is a store that sells not-super-expensive bed stuff? Thanks so much!!!

I am currently living in a duplex, and my neighbor is painting his side of the house. We painted it 2 years ago, and he did not talk to me before paining his side of the house. The contract states that all descisions regarding the house must be decided together. Is there anything I can say or do?
