I would suggest rubbing it down good with a quality leather balm and covering it with some good heavy packing type blankets to keep the dust and dirt off while in storage, I wouldn't use plastic as it will not allow the leather to breathe as it needs too, also plastic may cause dark spots on the leather if it is in contact with the surface for a long period of time. The leather balm will keep the leather supple while it is stored in an environment that it is not intended to be in. Also consider getting some Moth Balls to put under it and also get some rat or mouse poison to put in the storage area so they do not make a nest of your nice couch.

Try to find a storage unit that has climate control. The temperature usually stays with in 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help with the moisture levels. Also wipe down the leather with mink oil or leather conditioner, place the couch on pallets to keep it off the floor and cover with an undyed (white) sheet to keep dust off.

Climate control would be good. Do Not put a plastic bag over it. We often see mildew damage due to moistere build up inside plastic bagged leather sofa's..

The above advice to condition is incorrect.. Its better if the piece is dry.. Adding a conditioner and then storing is not wise!. moisture = mildew..

Dry open Air storage for your leather sofa..
