When looking at the blinds from inside the room, should they be pointing up or down?

Up, will most definitely be the best way to reduce heat entering the room. However it is not the best in regards to blocking light and getting the tightest closure. Also, choosing a cord tilt option on a horizontal blind is better than using a wand. Less likely to break and closes the blind tighter. I hope this helps. Good luck.

It has been my experience to have them facing up which would direct the heat toward the ceiling. Otherwise, if they are facing down, the heat coming from the window will be forced downward and we all know heat rises, which would make for a warm room.

As much as I hate to say it, since blinds are designed to look best with the leading edge down, you get the beat light reduction and heat control with the slats tilted up.

Looking at them, up. That also keeps light from coming in on 2nd floor rooms in evening (like a parking lot post light).

up. Definately. Heat rises, and if they are pointing up, the heat will automatically go up.

Up, if they are down sunlight can still come through. If you
try it you can see the difference.
