Alrighty, so my room right now is painted a lightish purple. I am not gonna repaint the whole room. But, instead I want to do some patterns or designs. What are some easy patterns to do? Also, I don't know what colors to use. I was hoping on doing yellow and green (my two fave. colours). But, when I looked online for bed spreads and pillows there were none that were the right color. So, what other two colors would look good? Also, what is a store that sells not-super-expensive bed stuff? Thanks so much!!!

Try www.domestications.com or overstock.com for bedding. You're right to choose the bedding first and then match the paint to the bedding. It's so much easier that way. You could do the rag or plastic bag painting. That's where you paint a base color. Then you mix another color with glaze and either use a rag or a plastic bag to lightly paint the second color in blotches. Home Depot and Sherwin Williams both have free booklets that explain those paint techniques. I bought a $5 gallon of paint at Home Depot once. If they mess up someone else's order, they might have paint leftover that they sell for cheap.
If you do vertical stripes, it is very important that you paint the lighter color first, let it dry, then put up your tape lines, then paint the same light color on the edge of the tape. This seals the boundary between the tape and the wall. Then paint your darker color. We did not learn this until after we painted our dining room with vertical stripes. We had to touch up every single line with an artist's brush. It took forever but I love how it looks. We used mint green and like a moss green.
Or you could buy a stencil and do some stencil designs over your light purple walls.
A good website for design ideas is www.HGTV.com. Good Luck!

I'm a fan of Wal-mart, Target, and making your own for inexpensive bedding. I gather you're not into making your own bedding, so go for Walmart and Target first. You're right to look for bedding that has the colors you want before you paint your room; it's much easier to match paint to a particular color, than the bedding. :-)
As far as looking online, Ebay claims to have everything, and Amazon is probably not far behind. Both would have inexpensive bedding, if you don't mind used. Just be sure to wash the bedding in your laundry detergent with some Clorox 2 before you use it. Clorox 2 is like bleach for colors; it will get out and destroy anything that is in that bedding without hurting the colors.
Light purple, hmmm? My bedroom when I lived at Mom's was a color called Magenta Magic. It was a light purple with pink tones instead of blue tones. I had bedding and curtains that were rainbowed with clouds, in warm pastel colors. If you can't find any yellow and green, try all the colors. I like pinks and blues with purples.
For decorating the purple, you could try putting up a wallpaper border near the top of the wall. You can (along with or instead of) sponge the wall, too. If you want the purple as a background color to show through another lighter or darker color, Take the paint, thin it with just a bit of water, load up a large wash sponge (like the old way to wash cars; that 4"x6" huge sponge), and just dab your wall with it. You can make your own patterns, too, either by cutting sponges into shapes and doing the same thing you did before, or by stencilling. Stencilling involves going to a craft store or a mass marketer like Walmart (their crafts dept, that is), and pick out some stencils you like. Stencils are those plastic sheets with shapes cut out. Take your sponge or a paint brush, place the stencil on your wall, and fill in the shape you want on the wall with your sponge/paint brush. If you want to get creative, you can even use different colors in the same stencil, or stencil just that shape in different colors across your wall. You can make it a solid shape, or you can use the sponge and dab it just once or twice to give it that sponged texture.
Whatever you try out, make sure you practice on a piece of cardboard or something like that. You want your hand steady, and you want to know what it would look like before you commit your whole room to it. The cardboard should be painted the same color as your room or white to get a close approximation of the finished result. And remember, if you have to paint the cardboard white, that the result will look slightly darker on your room wall.

Instead of painting, you could collect pictures from magazines and tape them up all over your walls, sort of a nifty alternative to wallpaper. When I was a teenager, my walls were light purple for the longest time(I hated it) so I collected all my old magazines and put them to good use. If you have one, you can use an x-acto knife to cut the pages out in a straight line. Try Deila's.com for bed stuff, they always have cute stuff(though the catalog is mostly clothes), and Target sometimes has cute stuff for decorationg too. Have fun!

Try Kohls or Target. They are both reasonable, and you can get ideas for the patterns or designs and the colors while looking at bedding.

I've always thought that yellow and white looked very classy!
You could paint the whole room white, then add vertical stripes of yellow about one foot thick, seperated by a foot and a half of white betwwen them.
Then you could add pretty yellow riobbons made into bows around the room, and there is always nice white bedding, even at local dept. stores
