I fell into a lake yesterday with them on, and though I took them off, unlaced them, and removed the inserts until they were totally dry, they still smell funny. Is there any hope for my sneakers to be stinkless again???

Does windex harm any metals is sort of what I am asking. I've used it to clean almost everything in kitchens without thinking very much about it. I was wondering about on plated objects, like instruments and the trim on some things. It says not to use it on brass, wood, copper, or pewter (tin/antimony/copper) and to test it first.

I accidentally washed a silk shirt in the washer. It came out wrinkly and not as soft. I have tried rewashing it, using extra fabric softner. I love this shirt and only wore it once. Can it be fixed?

My problem in my room is my clothes. I am never home, and am always out the door, so taking the time to hang and fold clothes has been a struggle for me and I'm sick of having them lay there for over a week until the pile dwindles as I wear them. Does anyone have any tips that can motivate me to put up my clothes? Should I get a dresser? Is hanging them all easier?

Any ideas, I have tried many things. Also, what could I use for prevention so that this doesn't happen as badly?

My apartment smells like raunchy cigarette smoke and I can't get rid of the smell. My clothes stink, all my possessions stink, and it is nasty. Candles, incense, febreeze air freshener hasn't helped. Anyone out there with any ideas? Also people, I smoke occasionally but I smoke outside and for this very reason. Don't smoke indoors. Its gross and nasty smelling for the next person who comes to live there.

Can I just hand wash them, dry them and put them in those ziploc storage bags? Will that keep them from turning yellow? One is new and one is a family heirloom and I want to make sure I pack them up correctly. Any suggestions?

she didn't bother to remove the kleenex from my wife's pocket it seems, and all the black clothing have kleenex speckles all over them now that they are dry. How do I get the kleenex crap off my clothing, or should I sue the maid's company for bad judgement on her part? My whole wardrobe of black work shirts are ruined with this kleenex

I need to make a rope from 2 single sized bedsheets and a pillowcase. The rope must be strong enough for a person to safely decend from a 4 story window to the ground. How many pieces should each bedsheet be torn into in order to make a rope strong enough to hold a 225 lb person that is decending the rope? I have no room for trial and error. This has to be correct on my first attempt or else the rope will break because it's not strong enough or the rope will be too short to reach the ground.

I know, 1 million dollars, but really... What would be a reasonable price to charge someone to do their laundry. It would be at my house so I know there's some cost in that end of it. But... what do you think?

My boyfriends ex girlfriend "soaked" through his mattress 3 years ago and he hasnt been able to get the stain out. We have to have someone come look at our mattress for a warranty issue and per OSHA they can't unless the stain is GONE! I tried hydrogen peroxide and it just changed the color to an orange rust color. Please Help!
