My apartment smells like raunchy cigarette smoke and I can't get rid of the smell. My clothes stink, all my possessions stink, and it is nasty. Candles, incense, febreeze air freshener hasn't helped. Anyone out there with any ideas? Also people, I smoke occasionally but I smoke outside and for this very reason. Don't smoke indoors. Its gross and nasty smelling for the next person who comes to live there.

if you paint the walls and have the carpet cleaned or replaced, it will make a HUGE difference. also, wash your curtains and sofa (if you can... try a small carpet cleaner machine those usually work pretty well on upholstery)
and incense probably wont help.... it's just adding more smells to the mix. try cleaning everything first before you add good smelling things.

You need to remove the source. Clean the walls & carpet. Everything else is just a stopgap measure- although I don't know about the fire/smoke fogger mentioned above. Wash walls well with TSP (Trisodium phosphate - sold at hardware stores in the paint section). Rinse them thoroughly, too.Y ou may even find that they are sticky with residue. You might need to use a nylon brush if they are. They have to be washed before you repaint or the paint won't adhere properly and nicotine stains can bleed through.
If you can replace the carpet that is best, otherwise rent an extractor. Use it on your sofa and upholstery as well. Wash curtains if possible or replace them. Good Luck.

To rid some of the smell first cut half an onion, turn cut face side up add a small amount of ammonia . This will absorb, the smell, keep the other half in the fridge, as soon as you see the first half turning a yellow color . throw it away and use the other half. You could also use sugar soap to clean the walls and door´s . I too smoke , but most of the time smoke on my balcony, unless we have company , but most them smoke outside

quite a few sturdy innovations. i became in a similar concern in college. I constantly stored my room door closed, had the window open, and altered my clothing till now leaving my condo if i might been out interior the lounge. I lit a team of candles each and all the time too. I might desire to've had a fan and a few thing that neutralized the air (lysol works especially plenty. i offered some off sort stuff as quickly as and have not been inspired)- no longer purely coated it up- as you be conscious of those smells blended jointly purely are not so great.

You would need to scrub all the walls with TSP and repaint them. Steam clean the carpets and furniture. Wash everything in your home basically. Even clean things. Then take a walk and smoke somewhere else.

you need something that will absorb the odor.. I had a car before that water leaked into and NOTHING I did would get rid of the smell.. so I put some flavored coffee grounds into like a dress sock or knee high.. tigh it in a not and set a couple behind your couch in your closet under your bed.. anywhere you can stash them so everyone cant see them.. eventually they will absorb the odor and you'll be rid of the cigarette smell..

or if you prefer they have odor eater sort of things at Walgreens or Wal-Mart.. or you can set boxes of Arm N Harmer in your closet and bedroom to absorb odor just like in the fridge..

Check your local hardware store for a "total release fogger " made for fire /smoke damage. Works well , just take any critters (dogs, cats, hampsters etc.) out for 2 or 3 hours and set the thing off. We use them for just that purpose in the apartment industry. Or you can always buy a 400$ ion machine...................
