I wash baseball-cap style hats in the washer all the time; "gooney" hats generally do well in the wash, too. If you can find a hat form, you can wash them in the dishwasher, too; they also make small forms to reshape the brim after a hat has been washed. Don't put any of them in the dryer!

I have washed hats in the dishwasher, put is on top alone, use very little soap, use the delicate setting, and remove it before the drying, and try not to use hot water if you have a setting, but the most important part is if you can not part with the hat because it was ruined, do not wash it in the dishwasher

Yes, but do not use the dryer. Find a pot that best fits the hat to dry it on or it will shrink as most of them are made of cotton. When removing it from the washer, pull it from all sides with your hand to expand the threads that shrank during washing as well.

Yes, I can and do wash my hat in the washer. But if you mean a specific hat, I'd have to know something about the hat to know if you can do that. Does it have any care tags?

yes you can. If you don't want it to loose its shape you can pick up a hat rack. It is a contraption that is shaped like a hat and you put your hat into it and throw it into the washer. You hat keeps its shape and comes out clean. I use mine a lot during baseball season for my boys. You can find them in the laundry isle at any department store.

yes they make a hat holder for washing and drying to keep baseball caps shape you could also wash and dry around an upside down pot the size of the hat

depends on what kind of hat it is... if it's a baseball hat, then the bill of it gets really jacked up... i've had some baseball hats that will still hold up, but i still wouldn't recommend it. if it's one of those visor kind, then go ahead. i wash my TYR visor all the time..

yes ,but if it's really dirty ,use a small brush and scrub some of the dirt off ahead of time with laundry detergent, and it's probably best not to put it in the dryer, shape it first, then hang it on the line.
