I fell into a lake yesterday with them on, and though I took them off, unlaced them, and removed the inserts until they were totally dry, they still smell funny. Is there any hope for my sneakers to be stinkless again???

You will never rid the smell unless you wash them. But after you wash them , make sure you rinse well and remove all the soap. Otherwise you will be left with yellow water mark´s. Plenty warm sunshine and fresh air will get your running shoes stink free again Also you can replace the inner soles, this will make sure they don´t smell

After you wash them and they are dry sit them outside with some baking soda inside of them over night. Dust it out the next morning and they should be good a new!

At the end of the day when my children take off their stinky shoes, they put 1/2cup baking soda into each shoe and let it sit overnight. That takes the smell right out.

Put a fabric softener dryer sheet inside each one and be sure the shoes are completely dry. That should help with the smell.

Try to wash them, because lake stuff is in there and will keep stinking until you get it out. There are powders and sprays for foot odor you could put in, or even baking soda, but I don't think that will be enough here.

Sprinkle baking soda in them and let it sit there overnight. It should absorb all the odors. Then shake it out - and you're good to go.
