I'm told the carpets and the padding will need to be replaced. I was thinking of placing down hardwood. Should I have the subfloor cleaned and sealed to be safe, or is it enough to just remove carpeting and padding? There were two large dogs in the house. I would also paint the interior walls. I'm wondering if I should consider buying or if I should walk away from the deal. Thanks. No flames, please.

My house has cockroaches, I've tried everything (bombs, boric acid) to get rid of them, it's disgusting. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I recently bought a dresser that has a small two inch strip of mildew at the bottom. I cleaned it with bleach and water, dried it out, but the mildew is still visible (it looks as if the mildew is all the way thru the wood). Will it continue to grow (now that it is dried out) or will it make me ill?

When I do my hand washing I always soak the clothes in the sink with water and Ivory Snow, rinse, put in the washer on spin cycle ONLY to get the excess water out, then dry them flat. But I've heard that spinning hand washables can be bad for the fabric. I've never noticed a problem, but are there certain fabrics/weaves that I should take extra care with?

A candle on top of my tv broke a hole and the wax dripped down the tv, down the cabinet onto the brand new carpet. What's a good way to clean it out?

I have some minor dirt stains in my beige carpet from my kids. Not such a big deal that I want to replace carpet but I'd like to deep clean it for the holidays. I purchased a steam cleaner from Walmart and I wasn't impressed. My last resort is to rent a rug doctor. Just wanted to get anybody's opinion whose used one before. Thanks.

I recently bought a tight leather sofa and noticed that there are several wrinkles on the arm, probably from the transport. Will these eventually disappear or do I have to do something to fix it?

I've never really thought about the way I hang out my clothes to dry, until my mother & sister-in-law came to visit. There were a few disparaging comments about it, but I felt inclined not to give them the satisfaction of telling me what they thought was the "right way". So do you hang your shirts by the shoulders or the waist...jeans from the cuff or the waist...how many undies and socks to a peg...blue begs or red...

I'm sure there is some sort of "rule of thumb", so if anyone knows then I would love to be inlightened.
