I've never really thought about the way I hang out my clothes to dry, until my mother & sister-in-law came to visit. There were a few disparaging comments about it, but I felt inclined not to give them the satisfaction of telling me what they thought was the "right way". So do you hang your shirts by the shoulders or the waist...jeans from the cuff or the waist...how many undies and socks to a peg...blue begs or red...

I'm sure there is some sort of "rule of thumb", so if anyone knows then I would love to be inlightened.

My mom always hung her clothes by the waist so the shoulders don't get smashed. Jeans are hung by the waist. Undies by the waist and socks by the toe. The reasoning behind this is so that you can't see the smashed part of the clothing done by the clothes pin. I hope this helps.

Really, it depends on whether or not the marks left on your clothes bother YOU. Since I don't like to iron, I hang shirts from the waist using one peg on each end and one in the middle. That way there is no sagging. Pants, I like to hang from the cuff by the seams. That way, you don't have any unsightly marks at the waist band. Undies and socks, who cares! no one is going to see them anyway!

Happy Laundering!
