Use a degreaser and when you get it clean, get one of those covers that goes over bowls in the microwave and make sure everyone uses it. You will only have to wipe it out. It never has that nasty stuff on it. It is so much easier to keep it clean this way. I have always covered everything when I cook in the microwave and I would not have it any other way. It gives you more time to do something more important than having to clean the microwave.

I take a glass measuring cup, add some lemon juice or a good splash of distilled vinegar and fill the cup with water. I then put the cup in the microwave and put in on HIGH for 5 minutes, then let it "steep" for 10 minutes or so. Open it up, remove the cup and wipe down the microwave cavity. This usually works within the first try! If you can, also remove the turntable and clean underneath. Remember to wipe down the outside and also the door, where the locking latch is.
This is also a good way to get rid of that gawd-awful smell after popping buttered microwave popcorn!
I then add the remaining vinegar water to the bottom of my dishwasher to keep it smelling fresh.

Get a bucket and rag.Fill the the bucket with hot water, dish detergent, and bleach.Dip the rag in the bucket . Place the rag on the center piece for 5 minutes on high heat (ring the rag out before applying to micro center). When microwave is done spinning you should be able to get all the gunk off.

After boiling water in the microwave and wiping it out--use a paste of baking soda and water to remove anything that is left. I use baking soda to clean about everything in my kitchen, including the stove top, sink, counters & frig. Everything just shines and it removes grease without scratching surfaces like cleansers do. Give this a try. IT WORKS GREAT.

Yes, the hot water cooking in micro is good. Places like Tarrget also carry micro-fiber cloths that make wiping up anything real easy. They are usually by M3.

put a cup of water in there as if you are making a cup of hot water for coffee, when it stops , leave it in there for 5 or 10 min, then you can wipe your mess out easily, don't let it get like this, and you won't have such a mess next time
