My house has cockroaches, I've tried everything (bombs, boric acid) to get rid of them, it's disgusting. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

My cats will go nuts if they see any insect in the house. Our dog will also do that and want to play with it till it dies of fright. However if you don't have animals, another suggestion might be to spray them with Raid.

I had the same problem in an apartment I used to rent. They exterminated and I also used bombs (the Raid smoke bomb is the best) but I still got roaches. They were coming throught the vents; through holes around the sink pipes; and through an Heater access panel. Exterminating only made them move in and out.

I went throughout the apartment and sealed or screened every place I could find. I put nylons over the back of the AC vents. I stuffed plastic bags into the holes around the pipes and then duct taped over that. I put a bomb up in the heater access and then duct taped all around the access panel (the heater was off). After I sealed everything, I bombed the entire apartment one more time. I had no more problems with roaches. The smoke bombs get into more hidden places and don't leave residue like the spray bombs. Since you are in a house I would recommend contracting a professional service on a regular basis.

I had this problem in an apartment years ago and I had a young child, so it was particularly disguisting. I moved the fridge out and found some old food wrapped in foil (no telling how long it had been there). My apt manager would contract an exterminator, but they always started on the other side of the complex and it took two days for them to get to my place. I had "my" roaches and all the refugees as well! I finally had a discussion with my apt manager and explained that I did not want the poision around my young child and asked if I would be able to "borrow" a cat for a couple weeks to see if I could reduce the roach population. She smiled, looked at me and said, "I did not hear you ask that, and I'll call you before they come to spray your apartment so you can be there to prevent them from doing it to protect your son." I got the cat and after 3 days never saw another roach. It was cool! When the exterminators came the next time I told them my son was allergic to their sprays and refused to let them in. No need to anyway, all my roaches were gone! Good Luck!

Years ago when I lived in an apartment, we had lots of roaches. We had a newborn so I didn't want the place sprayed. Instead, I took straight pine-sol on a rag and wiped down the entire insides of my kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and inside closet edges. I did not do the baby's room and she stayed with my Mother while I did this with all windows open. Then I did the same thing in all my cupboards (took stuff out first and put dry foods in zip locks, keeping them on the kitchen table for a few days) except I wiped around the edges inside..and where the corners were. I didn't rinse it off- and after a day I saw no more roaches. After that I washed out the cabinet my dry foods went into (you don't want crackers smelling like pine-sol). Vacuum every day for a week to make sure you get up all eggs, and go around the baseboards with your hose attachment. Empty your vacuum bag daily- the eggs can hatch in there too. Keep the front and back outside porches swept off. Five years later, we moved into a house with roaches. I did the same treatment, but this time I also poured pine-sol (teeny bits) around the entire foundation of the house. (It's also good for warding off skunks if you live in the country- which we did) Of course this will kill any plants or grass that are up against the house, but it sure keeps the bugs (including ants) out!

Use a product called "Demon WP". There are 4 water soluble packets per bag. Use 2 packets per gal. of water. You will need a pump sprayer. Spray a fine mist between the base boards and floor throughout your house and in your kitchen cabinets. Concentrate in the area where you find the most roaches. Within hours you will see the results of your efforts. There is a 90 day residual of this product. This product can usually be found in feed stores and other independent stores. Good Luck!

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them. More information at http://tinyurl.com/ofxkk

It's not so much what you use as how & where you us the stuff.

If you see lots of them just spray the heck out of them.

The best is a powder that they walk in & take back to the nest.

Watch where they come & go from then treat those areas.

They make little glue traps that are good to set out.
Do this if you don't see alot of them. When you don't see any in the traps you know you are winning the battle.

I would suggest you look for a leak somewhere. They LOVE water as much as food...Someone said if you cut off a roaches head and sent it into space in a tin can it could survive for weeks...I agree it is time for a professional..call one have them tell you why you have them and then you decide what to do...Do you have a neighbor with trash issues because that will attract them too...

Go to a hardware store and get Roachproof. Follow directions. Paul Harvey recommended it years ago as the thing that would rid us of roaches. Mine came in a can. Besides that you have to do your dishes, clean your stove and not have any dark, damp, greasy spots for them to feed.
