You need a dye sealer first before waterproofing your shoes. Scotchguard usually
works but not good on suede! If you don't have
Suede shoes then use Scotchguard spray on them then let them dry. Test shoes by wetting
them on a spot or 2 if the dye don't come out then water proof them. The water proofing will make sure the Scotchguard doesn't wear off!
If Scotchguard don't work use Resin liquid but that will make your shoes stiff so you'll have to soften them with mineral oil afterwards!

That's awful Patricia. My suggestion is if you haven't had the shoes long, can you take them back to the shop for exchange or refund?
