when my washer starts emptying it runs over where the drain is inserted in the drain pipe. It doesn't do it all the time, I don't think the drain is clogged, but i guess its a possibility.

I need to get my house ready, I mean really ready, for the holidays. The dishes are washed, the beds are made, etc, but I need to do the extra stuff like dust, clean bathrooms, floors, etc. My question is should I do it now, or wait until closer? Do you clean for the holiday guest that may be comming to see you? I feel better when the house looks really nice, but just can't find the energy to do it. I have had this terrible cold.

I hear that it would be too "hard" on the 1 Laying Hen so to get 2-3 to divide his "time." Any other advice on starting a small chicken coop appreciated...websites, etc.

I'm going to purchase a miter saw and do not know the difference between the two "cuts". I'm installing
crown moulding using mostly inside miter cuts, and a couple of outside miter cuts.
I am going to install moulding on a cathedral ceiling in the future, would that project involve the compound cuts??

Help! My husband brought home the world's ugliest Christmas tree and I have no idea how to make this thing look good.

Actually, the top of the tree is ok, but the bottom is almost completely bare. The lower branches are very wide, and have little tufts of needles towards the outside of the tree, but nothing at all at the inner part of the tree.

I've strongly suggested cutting off the bottom branches and the bottom two feet of the trunk, but my husband doesn't want to "lose the height". Personally, I'd much rather have a short tree that looks relatively normal than this weird, freaky tree.

I'm not a Christmas Tree snob. I love the little Charlie Brown trees, but I just don't know what to do with this strange half-naked tree. Please help me figure out if there is a way to disguise the empty branches at the bottom of the tree.

I wish I could show you a picture, but my daughter has my camera for the weekend, so you'll have to use your imagination.

We've been here 10 years, and I always knew the floors were out of level, walls had shifted. I see no sign of continuing settlement. Only recently I discovered that the foundation blocks in a back corner seem like maybe they were patched or replaced in a stair-step pattern, typical of damage from shifting---maybe? Its more an issue now since we want to put an addition against that back wall, and worry that maybe digging a new foundation might open a new can of worms--what do you think?

hi all,

just wondering what the average electric cost is for a one bedroom flat with one person.

currently i am paying about £20-£25 a week.
i dont leave things on standby (always turn off at mains)
i cant afford this and i dont even have my night storage heaters on because that would use more and trust me the lowest temperature in my living room i've checked at 7pm last night and it was 4.6 degrees c

any suggestions?

please

thanks
francis

I have purchased a top of the line dishwasher, hoping it would reduce the need to rinse but every time I leave even a few dishes without rinsing the others come out with powdered deposits. I have used jet dry with the same results and don't want to use it any more for health reasons
