I just bought a house with an older kenmore softner. I put pellet type salt in (as recommended on unit) but not for sure if it works. I set the timer to regeinate or whatever it's called every night, but the thing constantly makes a ticking kind of noise. Shouldn't it only make noise at night. And should I be able to run water in my house and see water coming or leaving from the unit?

We are thinking about moving the washer and dryer in our basement to a more logical spot. This would mean running our pex piping = not a big deal. My concern is more for the dryer - how long can the dryer vent hose be? Ours would likely need to be about 16 feet long to go up the ceiling and back out to the hole that's already there venting outside.

Have a ceiling with a crack in it that is off set about 1/4 of an inch or so. I know how to tape and bed it but what do I do about the off set? Should I float it out then retexture?

So I just washed these new PJ pants for the first time and I put them in the dryer for about 8 minutes before I remembered that the tag said to hang them to dry. Will 8 minutes in there ruin the fabric? I had them on the delicate cycle, not regular (which I think would be hotter). If it helps to know they're pure cotton.

Thanks guys.

I noticed John Deere at Walmart and other large box stores, just wandering if they are still the best in the business.

I have a small orchid plant an I left to go on my honeymoon and didn't get to water it for week. I returned home an the blossoms fell of but the roots are fat and green. As soon as I got home I watered it and gave it some additional sunlight.(not sure if that was bad or good) Ive never had an orchid before and I'm not much of a green thumb so I need some help here...

Hi, I want to hang a punching bag from my basement's ceiling, but I don't know where to drill.
As far as I know, my ceiling's made up of two different rows. Bricks (relatively thin, hollow space over them) and concrete (this is what I want to drill into, thick layer of concrete).
Every spot I try drilling through feels like bricks.. the drill goes right past it in a second.
I asked someone who works with these things, he told me if I pound the ceiling's different areas I should be able to hear whether it's bricks or concrete. I tried but to no avail.

Anyone know what I should do? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I picked up a used Cole 4 drawer filing cabinet. I was able to lock the drawers with the key by pushing in the cylinder but it will not pop back out when trying to unlock. Any ideas?
