Does anyone have any instructions (or a link to a website) on how to construct a small timber jetty?

The jetty is for a non-tidal, still fresh water lake on private property. It will extend into the lake approximately 12 to 14 feet and the shore depth is approx 2 to 3 feet.

Jetty or Pier???

Without knowing at all the depth of the water; any Tides, rate of flow IE: River; It's a bit difficult to advise here.

Certainly most Pilings would be creosote and/or tar coated, and to cause and effective Brake/Flow change, they would have to be driven substantially deep enough to be stable, and either overlapped, or fit tightly together.

I'm curious about your motive.

Do not have a direct answer for you.
However, any construction which is partly in a public waterway must meet any number of standards. for enviornmental impact caused by construction & the materials used
Live in an area w/ a number of marinas & from what I see
they all use floating docks which are anchored at the shore
& depending on length, pilings along sides & at the ends.
Seems to have the least enviornmental impact.
Anyhow, the EPA, Coastguard,& state regs have to be considered.
I'd check w/ local regs & submit a request for a permit before building something which may have to be torn down.
Best regards
