I want to plant one at the bottom of my garden but dont want the roots under my house! Its approx. 30ft away.

usually spread 4-5 feet

At least as large as the canopy. 30 feet woulld be fine - we have one half way down the garden and its about 20 years old now and no sign of roots near the house.

the amount of tree above the ground is the same size and shape below ground
