Have a problem with ducks pooing around, and in my pool. Anyone know of a way to stop them?
I live in National park, all wildlife protected, its summer, and I want to use pool, and its too big to cover, I have a dog but they seem happy to sit on waterfall where she cant get them.
I want/need them gone.
Please help.

I know I chose the house... national park and all.. I like the croc idea, I can get a fake from Steve Irwins Australia Zoo, its close by... keep the ideas coming, I think I might be able to win this battle.

i got a floating corcodile head for $30, we used to have 2 ducks coming by and messing up our pool. the croc worked and they haven't been back since. Maybe get something like this but a couple, or maybe something motorised like a little boat! andyway, they should be gone in a couple of weeks.

You do have a problem! Most ducks are protected even outside parks. I was an operator of a commercial pool that a pair of migrating mallards would nest and lay eggs. We contacted the city animal control, and was informed that the eggs or the birds were not to be disturbed. I had to close the entire pool for a month! I would put out balloons with big eyeballs drawn on them. The ducks would hide for a few days until they figured out they were no threat. I installed owl decoys, same result. Snake decoys, and then finally coyote urine which can be obtained from select garden centers. I think the urine had the best results, that or it was just time for them to leave. They are very cleaver! Best of luck!

Sorry, but you built a pool in a National Park. You build a pool in a Duck's back yard they will want to use it. If the dog does not work you are out of luck.
