I am currently renting a duplex while in college. We were lucky enough to get a unit with a fireplace. There is one problem, the living room carpeting goes right up to the beginning of the fireplace. I have never seen this before, and don't know what to do about it. I didn't know if there was a rug or something that I could place in front of the fireplace so I don't catch the carpet on fire. Any help would be much appreciated!

does it matter if clothes may be slightly damp after you put them away when doing laundry? i heard it could cause mold/a bad smell and also doesn't using the dryer to dry clothes cost a lot in terms of the energy bill? thanks :)

I got the tiles in my shower taken out because there was a leak. The shower door had to come off too. The new tiles don't match exactly, but to make it look even worse, the tiler put them up perpendicular to the old ones - the longer sides of the old ones are top and bottom, the new ones have been put up with the longer sides left and right. None of the grouting lines match up. He had to cut the tiles to fit this way. Can anyone explain if this is normal before I go and ask him to take them all down and start again. Very cross and upset.

The stopper just twists slightly to sink down and twists slightly to raise it up. I want to clean out the hair and gunk that I know is in there. Draino is not working for me. I need very basic steps. I am not mechanically inclined. There is no screw that I can see to unscrew it; I am assuming that it would be obvious. Thank you!!!

Theres this light in my house that just stopped working recently.
I tested the light switches and they work. I went to the attic to get to the junction box, and followed the right cable from the light to it.
Where the cable goes in, theres no power. And all the fuses are good.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
