Nice!!

Personally I would paint the walls a soft yellow, not to pale though. Purple and yellow are complimentary colors. I would accent in crystal glassware and metallic silver. I would do jewel tone purple velvet drapes tied with metallic silver tassles.

Classy yet bold. Love it!

I think Taupe would be a good color for the walls with either teal or purple for an accent wall and the trim. Find a fabric with purple & taupe & teal for the curtains/drapes. It makes me think of the color combination of peacock feathers. Silver or pewter accents in the lighting, frames, and hardware on furniture would give elegance without too much fuss. A couple of the frames could have purple matting that ties into the sofa and the artwork. A couple of pillows should be textured but solid purple and/or teal. Make sure there is some of drapery fabric left for pillows also.

I think a good color would be a nice teal blue color if you have an accent plum sofa.

Plum Couch

If you'd like that plum sofa to really pop, I would suggest using the color wheel's complementary color rule. If you look at purple on the color wheel, green is its opposite, which makes it it's complement. For your plum, which I assume to be a deep, rich, reddish purple, I would go with a medium sage green for the wall color. Then keep just about everything else really neutral. Maybe some beautifully textured natural color linen drapes and natural (Cream-ish) colored upholstered furniture to accompany the other sofa. If you intend to use wood or leather, go with a medium yellow-reddish tone, like a light cherry or medium tanned leather. Just have fun with it and be brave! Not many people use exciting colors -- consider yourself great home owners in the making, if you aren't already! :)

Never put more than 3 main colors in a room. I would add a light tan. That adds your levels of color:

Dark Plum - Dark
Teal - Medium
Light Tan - Light

Doing that gives a warmth and dimention to the room. Very inviting.

I'd say go with a really nice gray. It's up to you whether you'd want it dark or light but it would go well with the plum and teal and would give the room a sort of contemporary feel. Love how you're not scared to mix colors! :)

Check out a color by Sherwin Williams called "silvermist." It's in the blue family, but it's a muted tone and should coordinate well with the plum & the teal.

Try:
pale gold [ honey color ]
aqua
lime
orange
ivory [ safe, but boring ]
Then repeat one of the colors in drapes/curtains, and maybe teal/purple/gold print throw pillows.
