I got the tiles in my shower taken out because there was a leak. The shower door had to come off too. The new tiles don't match exactly, but to make it look even worse, the tiler put them up perpendicular to the old ones - the longer sides of the old ones are top and bottom, the new ones have been put up with the longer sides left and right. None of the grouting lines match up. He had to cut the tiles to fit this way. Can anyone explain if this is normal before I go and ask him to take them all down and start again. Very cross and upset.

This is not normal. Any repair person should absolutely do their best to return the spot or spot(s) to at least the way they were before the problem, if not better than it was! ABSOLUTELY COMPLAIN!! I hope that they will fix it for you without any issue. If they don't, I would suggest putting a complaint in on their business with the better business bureau. Good luck!

Ask the installer why he installed the tiles this way. See what he has to say. Then if he has some lame excuse then ask him to just redo it. The cutting part has me wondering in itself. I`m sure you know that your tiles could not be matched. Tile manufacturers are always changing there molds. So it the tiles are over 5 years old it will be hard to find the same tiles today.

you have every right to have the tiles re dun. if you payed for a professional to do the tiling, if he is a registered trades person which is easy to find out, contact the trades practices office for information on person to contact. and if they agree that the work is not up to standard, he will have to re do it all at no cost to you.
