I have some white on white leather Fila shoes, and they're kind of dirty looking. They're not white like they were before, so I want to clean them, but I don't know how. I tried using a wet cloth and then drying them with a dry cloth, but it did more damage than good. Anyone have any white sneakers? How do you get them clean looking?

We just moved into a new home and the showers have "cultured marble surrounds." The only info I can find online related to cleaning marble shower surrounds is "they are easy to care for" but no one mentions an actual cleaning product to use, and every cleaning product label that i've come across says not recommended for marble. grrrr.... getting frustrated, please help.

It's just that all the paint i have tried comes off and starts to peel because of the moisture in the bathroom, it's very small. Even the bathroom paint is rubbish. Anyone know of something that stays put for longer than a few months? I always have the window open but it doesn't help so i need a good hardwearing paint. Would external paint be harmful to me and my children?

i have an old barn fan and motor on a metal frame sitting outside. every time i see it it is rotating in the slight wind at a fairly hefty speed. since generators are the same hardware as electric motors could i just hook a fan belt back up and get power from the motor? i understand that there is a lot of resistance in the motor but that aside, i think i heard of something in the motor that prevents this (electricity generation) from happening so that the fan doesn't send electricity back into the circuit when its windy. is this true? if so, what's it called, where's it located and how do i remove/bypass it? Has anyone ever done this? Any tips?(especially for increasing the efficiency)

About a week ago my roommate clogged the toilet but was able to plunge it and it worked normally for a couple of days. Now when we flush the toilet it fills nearly to the rim and then slowly drains, but not completely. We've tried to plunge it again and we've also tried the dish washing liquid plus hot water trick. They don't work. Any suggestions before we have to call a plumber.

I currently have a single GFCI outlet outside and I was wanting to install a GFCI outlet/switch combo in it's place.

So my question is can I just use the current wiring or do I need to run additionally wiring for the switch part of it. Or can I somehow use the current two wires for both the outlet and switch and ran a wire between the outlet to the switch?
Thanks,
Jen

I have 24 cabinet doors. The existing cabinetry is knotty pine wood. I was given a quote of $1500 to refinish it by painting it white. How much more should refacing be? I am thinking of using thermofoil so it looks like wood.
Also, can my barrel hinge be changed over to concealed hinges?
