I need a new roof. My insurance company has confirmed and I have a check. Now what? How do I chose between 20, 30, 40, or even 50 year shingles? What brands are better? How do I pick a company? I am totally in the dark and don't want to get taken. Please help!!!!

i have used the blower for about 4 months, minimal use, maybe 10 times. I pulled the cord and it just stopped and jammed, not it just dangles. I took everything apart yesterday to get to the cord to fix it (this took a while b/c it is buried deep in the casing)...but when i got close, there is a huge ball of wires in a circular pattern that exploded out everywhere! What is that? Do i need that to go back in for it to work? How can i fix this blower??!! it is a weedeater featherlite. Thank you!!

My husband and I just moved to the country and we had to transform our natural gas range to propane. We turned the piece in the inside back of the oven to the proper setting and replaced it securely.
The problem we are having is AWFUL fumes that the oven gives off while it warms up. It burns my eyes so bad that I have to open windows. I am assuming this is not the norm and was needing to know if anyone can throw some advice my way?
Thanks bunches!

I don't need a new drilling. I definitely need 1) new indoor equipment ... basically a new tank.... I currently have two tanks... don't know what for??? only one well though... I might want to have at the same time 2) a new pump dropped into my existing well. I am currently without water and need to figure out costs tonight. Please advise on ballpark cost. (House 2000 sq. feet in Chicago... don't know if it matters.) Also, soft water system is fairly new and OK. Thanks!!!

the section that needs to be replaced (it is 50% ripped due to high wind and the fact the screen is like 15 years old) and I need to get up there to replace it. Only thing is the section is on a slant, over the pool. How do you do it with out killing your self or falling into the pool? I dont have much money, and paying someone to come out to fix it may not be an option. I know home depot sells what I need to fix it!

I bought an 11HP Craftsman pressure washer. The engine is a Briggs and Stratton, Intek model. This is an awesome pressure washer. But, it sounds like a dragster (ok I'm exaggerating). I called Briggs tech support and they said they were working on a solution, but it may take 2 years. I will lose a lot of hearing in 2 years, and my neighbors may set my house on fire when I go on vacation (I'm still exaggerating).
I was thinking of running it in my garage with the doors closed and running extra hose. This would probably work, but the risk of Carbon Monoxide poisoning is too great to try it I guess.
So, does anyone know of a solution to this, aside from buying an electric model? I don't want to part with this machine. :(

My brother found it in the woods (in Middle Georgia). It was a green tennis ball - sized pod on a single stem. The pod was split so when it dried I open it to find over a dozen brown seeds that were about the size of fat butterbean. I thought it looked like something you'd find near a pond but my brother found it under some trees, probably pine trees. I'm really interested in finding out what it is and what the flower looks like. I've never seen anything like it---it's very alien-looking.

I already have the plans, building permit and financing ready to go, but I need a General Contractor who is sober, competent, honest and can start immediately. This is not a hypothetical situation - I need a builder.

There is a mouse roaming the hallways of my all-girls dormatory (at least one. Not sure if there are more). Guys are not allowed in the dormatory (except maintance) and maintance is gone for the day. The mouse was in my tiny bedroom. I ran out screaming and ask the RA what to do. She was useless, only calling maintance and leaving a message. I then went back to my room, where this time I saw a mouse (I think it was the same mouse, but I'm not sure) in the hallway near my neighbor's door. I bolted to my door to close it.

In short, I'm on my bed, afraid to set my foot on the floor and my door is shut (which I normally keep open on hot days to help air flow). I've searched my room for any holes the mouse could have crawled out of, but haven't found any. What precautions should I take to prevent the mouse from re-entering my room?

Ladies: How does the way I decorated my Victorian apt sound?
Beige walls (not allowed to paint), with a white trim, and burgundy curtains, a plant hanging off a rod on top of the window looking above my television, cherry walnut furniture, a stitched rug with a large golden square etched in a burgundy like trim and also......

What color should my poster frames be? Can they be black? What places sell cheap frames that are gold colored?

And also I have a couch, what color cover should I put on it?

And lastly, my bathroom has powder blue walls with a light white trim. Is it ok if my bath rug and shower curtain are burgundy too?
