I currently live in a Victorian and LOVE it! The construction quality is so much better and there is an essence here. There is something about walking the same paths, sleeping in the same rooms, that people over 100 years ago did.

It does cost more to heat and cool but it is worth it !

Aesthetically, I'd FAR prefer the Victorian. A Great-Aunt had a stunning one in downtown Denver, and my Uncle had a brick-Victorian in Montana.

With the right budget, a victorian could be brought up to snuff in the insulation and electrical departments.

I LOVE old-construction... my lil brother and I build a post and timber barn this summer... so much beautiful exposed wood.

I really don't like contemporary. I'm a minimalist, yes, but all the clean lines and boring repeats just get to me. I'm used to the Victorian style farmhouses of the NE USA. But, I don't like the uncomfortable Victorian interiors. If I were to choose, definitely Victorian, but given a door three, I'd take it.

My choice would be Victorian, because I am an avid DIY and would have that house in tip top shape in no time.

But, I live in a one story home that I am slowly but surely adding alot of Victorian details.

Victorian, given the condition that it's up to code and sealed and solid, ya know?

Contemporary...I can't stand old houses...They are charming to look at but a pain to live in.
