Replacing screw / pin on spring hinge glasses?

Help! Any tips?? The spring retracts the center hole so I can't get the screw / pin completely through!! Has this ever happened to you and how do you fix it? If you've ver tried to fix these things you probably know just what I am talking about. Thanks!

You have to use a pin or needle on the underside to pull the little arm out to align the holes while you then try to insert the little screw in the top side---kind of tedious to do without a jewelers vise....some eyeglass stores will repair them for free.
