What type brackets will be best to mount it - should they be mounted as the rock wall is being built (it is a new home)...of course the least conspicious, but sturdy, the better. Any ideas or suggestions at all will be appreciated!!

It will not be the "main" source of heat, but more for atmosphere, with a flat screen TV above it in the living room area. What advantages of vent or non-vent are there? If vented it would need to be a rear, or back vent, not vertical......blower is optional. Fuel will be propane....House is 2-story with basement - around 2,400 squ. ft. but logs would not be to heat all that....thanks for any and all info - there are so many options.......we live in mountains of western NC, but winters are not bitter terrible bad lately.

It has to stand up to 3 boys.
Someone recommended Gemshine, but I can't find that brand.
I used Minwax clear satin in one room, and it seems to work well except it was hard to apply with getting swirl marks.

I bought a shiny chrome freestanding toiletpaper holder. It was the only one I could find and everything else in my bathroom is brushed chrome. I figured there was some way to make it look brushed so it will match.

We have just bought a small (480 sq ft) small house with no basement to renovate and resell. It has one bedroom, small living room and very small kitchen and even smaller bathroom. The lot is big so we have already dug a hole, poured foundation and are planning on moving the house on top of the new foundation. So, the basement will have 2 bedrooms, full bathroom, laundry room and the mainfloor bedroom will be opened up to make a bigger living room. Ok...here comes the question...would you take the bathroom out on the mainfloor and open the kitchen or would you take the tub out (it's only a 4 ft long old tub) and keep a bathroom upstairs and keep the small kitchen? I think bigger kitchen no bathroom and my husband thinks the opposite. Please let me know your opinion.

The sewing machine presently in use has problems with the tension knobs. It is more than fifteen years old. Have the features on newer machines changed drastically and is it practical to invest in a newer moderate priced machine -- $200 range - versus having this older one repaired. The sewing machine will be used for quilting and home sewing projects. I'm not into fancy embroidering stitches but zig-zag is useful. Can anyone recommend the merits of different brands.

A few days ago, I sloshed a little bit of tea on my keyboard (no sugar in it, just aspartame). I quickly turned my keyboard over to prevent any more from dripping into the insides. I left it that way overnight. The next day the keyboard seemed fine and I was able to use it. Now about 3 or 4 of the keys are super hard to press down, although they will work. It feels like they are sticky inside. How can this be if there was no sugar in the tea? Is there anyway to clean the keys, or will I have to replace my keyboard? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar problem. Thanks!

I recently recieved my grandfathers Cattaraugus 225Q Army Aircore issued knife, and I love it. Because it is almost 70 years old, it is starting to look dirty. What methods can I use to clean off some of the stains without damaging the blade? The blade is high carbon steel. Please, only post solutions you know will not damage the blade. Thanks.

I use Jason's natural toothpaste, and it's really clumpy. I am pretty sure that it has accumulated about an inch-1.3in down the sink drain. I shined my laser pointer down to get it to glow up nicely and can see it. It takes like a minute for my sink to fully drain after leaving the water on for maybe 15-20 seconds. What can I do!? I don't know if I can pluck the styff out with anything. Will drano gel help? I used the liquidy drano...didn't do anything. Help!

What store sells or which manufacturer makes left-handed lawnmowers? (The pull cord is on the left so it can be pulled with the left hand)
I can't find any for sale anywhere. If they don't make them, why not? There are lots of left-haned people who would prefer to pull the starting cord with their left hand.

My batroom rugs have become quite dirty...earlier I used to wash it by hand but it is very tedious.I know it can be washed in a machine using a gentle cycle. My washing machine is a very simple one...the ones that usually comes with apartments.I have put the settings to cold/cold but am not sure which cycle to choose...the cottons (light/normal/heavy/extra heavy) or the wrinkle free (extra light/light/normal/heavy)
Can anybody tell me about it...??

want to cool off. I have a family member who thinks that running the fans keeps the house cooler. But why must you run the ceiling fan and close the door to the room. Plus I'm not 100% convinced that running 6 ceiling fans keeps the house cooler vs. the a/c moving the air and the cost of running the ceiling fans. So, whats more efficient? A/C plus ceiling fans or A/C plus ceiling fans only when you are in that particular room.

My front yard has about a 3-4 foot slope from house to street. The old owners put in a couple of trees and planting beds, but nothing of real interest. I would like to add a partial retaining wall about halfway down to create some "flow" and interest. Problem is, there is a 10-year-old ornamental plum tree about where I want to put the wall. My preference would be to place the wall about 2 feet in front of the plum tree, but then I would need to backfill with soil (basically building up the soil around the tree by about a foot). Will that damage the tree?

I live in California zone 9.

I'm pretty sure I need to divide them cuz they look too crowded.

Also, I didn't cut off the flowering stems this year (too busy and forgot!), so i suppose the energy went to seeds instead of the rhizomes... will they flower again next year? If not, then what happens--will it flower the year after then?

Thanks!
