If you go to a glass shop they usually have replacements. Take the old one with you. There are so many different kinds they will need to match it up. all manufactures use a little different one.

Just go to Home Depot and buy a new shower bar, they're only a couple of dollars. Then just cut it to fit properly into the sockets. The bars are typically plastic, so they bend a little bit.
Don't try and bend them too much though, just enough to slip into the sockets..

if the towel bar is the clear plastic type i'd try some clear silican or hot melt glue. slide it to one side and fill other...then repeat on other side. usually the bars are put in as the bar holders are installed so the bar will not fall out and replacing the bar itself is impossible to do right because if it is narrow enough to fit into the holders it is narrow enough to come out again. if the holders are installed with screws they can be removed and a longer bar installed but if the holders are cemented into the shower walls i would try the silicon or hot glue..good luck

I can relate to Jon's plight. I too suggest buy new; but get an expansion rod; most often sold in Screw Out types. Set the ends in the brackets (though you don't need brackets for this type); twist the rod in the direction of its expansion until it's snug to each end.
