"Mean Green"
Great on everything! Degreaser and stain remover.
I don't know if you can find it in the States....Walmart in Canada carries it though.

I dont know if they sell this where you live but the product AWESOME is actually awesome! It costs 1 dollar and is great. If you can find it just spray it on and let it sit a sec and wipe it off. I bought it just for my stove. My burners and grates look like new and all I needed was papertowel or a dishrag and some AWESOME. It also works for lots and I mean lots of other stuff I just dont recommend it for laundry. By the way it is only a dollar and is more than worth it. I don't buy Easy Off anymore even for my oven.

soak the burner grates in water with baking soda and dishwashing liquid. i use an old baby's bathtub so it will be deep and the grates are soaked entirely. i usually wait until the grime softens it takes 2-4 hrs for me. but you can do it in 1 hour. i just don't want to scrub real hard. i just use and ordinary stainless steel rubber from walmart and scrub away.
if you cook more than twice a week you need to clean them weekly it won't be hard to clean them up. i cook once a week and try to clean them every 2 weeks. i also include my range hood which suffers the most grease.
good luck and happy cleaning.

I dampen the area, sprinkle liberally with baking soda, spray, drip or spoon boiling white vinegar onto the baking soda. Let sit for about thirty seconds and then give it a quick scrubbing with a 3m scrubber or Dobie sponge (wal-mart in the cleaning isle) or a credit card makes a non-abrasive scraper (I even use it on my wood floors) for those stubborn chunks. Another effective cleaner that works for rust as well, is to dampen area with water, sprinkle liberally with table salt and then squeeze a lime over the space. Let sit about 10 minutes and then you can use the cut lime as a scrubber to add a bit more juice to it while scrubbing or a 3m scrubber will work well for this task too.

Use "Easy Off Bam!". I have used on hard-to clean baked on grease on the burner grates. The key is to let the solvent sit for 30 minutes before wiping it off. Let it do the hard work first, then try scrubbing to remove the rest.

i use the easy off foam cleanser....it tends to lay on the surface and dissolves the orange sticky greasy grime very well. Just spray on and leave sit for a bit. Then come back and wipe it off.
You may have to do this twice is it is really bad.

The spirinett by Norwex is only $4.50 for a two pack, and lasts forever. Best part is it's non-toxic. You use it with just water. If you don't know a consultant, you can find one here: http://www.norwexonline.com They have a shipping charge if you order online, so just email them and ask if there's a consultant in your area, you might be able to save the shipping on such a small purchase.

If oven cleaner don't work then try some sodium hydroxide. Sears sells it in there appliance section, It's called stove top cleaner and all you do is make a paste and rub it in and let it sit for a while and it will safely remove all the black stuff.
