I squished a Vine Weevil yesterday and have spent a sleepless night worrying about my plants. Can anyone reccomend a pesticide (sorry to all those organic gardeners but Im desperate) that will zap the little beggars before they decimate my babys ! Yes, I know its the larvae that do the damage and that nematodes are best but I need to chemically obliterate these nasty things b4 they even start.

Is that the name for them? The square glass blocks that some use in construction.
I would be interested in replacing part of a wall with them for a greenhouse effect in my unused bedroom. I know they are warm in the summer but how are they in the winter?
Is it possible to replace part of a load bearing wall with them?

They introduced concentrated power, which could be packed in a small plastic bag, stating because it was concentrated they used less packaging.
Then they made tablets, to ensure people used more than they needed to, and to keep the tablets from breaking they used thicker packaging, and more of it.

This might sound dumb, but I get home late from work and would like to find out about a noiseless way to mow the lawn without disturbing my neighbours.

My backyard is 9 x 18... thanks!

I just moved into an apartment where everything inside is straight out of 1961. there's this huge old monstrosity of an oven made by the Crown corporation, and the oven has to be hand-lit every time before use. I tried to heat up some taco shells last night (my girlfriend makes delicious tacos!) and when i tried to light it there was a little mini-explosion. What did I do wrong and how do i cook something without being terrified every time?

We have a small bathroom shared by our kids. The house is about 25 years old and the tub in their bathroom is in bad shape. The drain, faucet, and shower head are all corroded and generally in in poor shape. The tub is dingy and needs new caulk. And, the tiles around the tub are loose.

I was at Home Depot and saw 'tub inserts' for around $300, this is the tub and the walls all together as one piece. This looks like the perfect solution, it would resolve both the tile wall and the bathtub issues with one 'swoop'. I have several questions...

- Are these inserts any good? We live in an area where mold/mildew in bathrooms is a constant issue. I am hoping a 'sealed' unit will make for easier cleaning.

- What can I expect to pay to have the new tub put in?

- It is worth it to do some of the work myself? such as the demolition?

I had a large lake in my back yard and found it was the main water line coming from the water meter which is in a "water can 3 feet under ground. The break was 25 feet from the meter. As i dug down and found the leak was at a coupling joint and the pipe was separated about 1/2"(pulled apart). The city here uses a back hoe to dig up the old meter and can. I went to the city manager and he said water lines around town break all the time! I repaired it and he may take off some for the leak...thats it! He probably knows their back hoe snagged the water line but he won't admit it. Has anyone seen a pipe break like that ....am I possibly right? Also, according to my water meter bill the leak started right after they replaced the old meter. I hope this link will show you the pics i took of it!

I'm laying sod this weekend, are soak hoses (porous underground hoses) a good idea vs watering on the surface? I'm looking for a cheap alternative to putting in a sprinkler system, I'm not going to be on this property much longer so I'm not looking to spend a fortune. Thanks!

Well, me and my husband are building house and my brother does custom cabinents. well we got a bid from him and another place. I really like the cabinents from the other place and my brother has been doing cabinents now for about a year and doesnt do some of the things I want in my kitchen. and the styles he does are not the same as what I had picked out at the other cabinent shop. So he could make different ones and I like them but i like the other ones too. what would you do or say if you wanted to go through the other place to get them. I dont want to hurt his feelings but I really like the other ones more? Would you just go with him or tell him you want to go with someone else.
