How much did your Koi Pond cost you? I'm looking at building a roughly 2,000 gallon Koi pond, probably a bit smaller though.

I am making a custom kitchen island and I planned to tile the top of it. The top of the island is going to be made of thick plywood for strength and I was told by the man at the hardwood store where I bought all the supplies that I needed to place cement board down on the plywood before I placed the tile down. I had bought a trim to go around the table top, hoping that it would be flush with the tile once the time went into place, however using the cement board makes the trim flush with the cement board and after the tile is installed, it would be about 5 mm taller than the trim. Do I really need to use the cement board? Would it be a bad idea to place the tile and mortar directly on the plywood?

Vinal had been installed by previous owners over wood floor in the dining area. The wood where there isn't any glue looks nice and I would like to remove this glue; It would be great if the floor would be ready to go without any extra steps...sanding, etc... Any ideas on accomplishing this?

I have two Japanese Iris clusters I planted for the first time this season. Bloomed nicely... After the blooms passed the plant produced what look like bulbs right underneath where the bloom was...they are still green as of right now. Are these bulbs or seed pods ? If so, whats the right way to remove them and prepare for replanting ?

so we lived on a farm, but it was sold and turned into houses. So we bought 80 acres out in the middle of nowhere, now we have lived in a trailer on that property for a few years while we built a barn and got electricity and water and such. not the contract of how long we can live in a trailer is up in a year so we have to build a house or move within the next year. We dont have the money to build a great house fast but dont want to move, any ideas? i looked into extreme home makeover but thats more if you already have a house in bad condition...know of any other show like that to help?

We are replacing windows - our township is of no help as to what is required. My understanding is we need 5.7 sq ft for egress but I also read ground floor windows require only 5 sq ft. Also, how low does the sill have to be from the floor?

I want to get orange ribbon to trim my wedding cake (the baker asked for 1"), but I have been looking for the past 3 days for 1" ribbon and can't find any anywhere!! I swear, I see 5/8", 7/8" and even 1 1/2"...but I can't find 1" to save my life! I've been to 8 different stores in 2 different towns!

Am I just crazy, or do they really not make 1" ribbon?

I'm decorating my fiance's house and he said to do whatever I wanted to. And I'm going to do the bedroom in Lavender, pink, and yellow with a seashell like theme. I'm totally into interior design and these are my favorite colors. What do you guys think? Would he like it?

I have always had issues with vacuums because I've always had long hair that gets everywhere. I also live with two other long haired people and everytime we vacuum we have to clean the entire thing out...otherwise it makes weird noises and stops picking things up.

I've had expensive and inexpensive. I need something worth the money and that picks up hair!!!

Any suggestions?

My parents shower has apparently clogged itself only on the hot side. If the water is set on cold only the pressure comes through fine. I am sure it is calcium build up from well water. Obviously they need to install some kind of filtering or softening system. Does anyone have any information on something that can be ran through the water to unclog this? I am trying to avoid cutting a hole in their wall to unclog it myself. I have heard of people using vinegar, but only in shower heads etc.. not running it through the whole water line.
