Or are you talking of fire protection misting systems. They too produce fine mist. Water is most efficient at heat absorption when droplets are small. This is because heat transfer occurs first at the surfaces of objects. The smaller the droplets, the larger the ratio of surface to mass, or amount of water.
Fire protection misting systems are a special purpose tool, and not effective for some types of fires.

Misting Systems are nothing but just small nozzles that sprays fine mist of water. The water droplets are so minute that they evaporate so soon and keeps the surrounding cool. Misting systems are in the form of portable misting systems, misting fans, misting tents and so on.

Small water spray nozzles that spray a fine mist into the air to help cool you off. They work better with areas that have lower humidity. There a bunch of them in Las Vegas at the pool areas to keep the guests cool while they sunbath.
