Vinal had been installed by previous owners over wood floor in the dining area. The wood where there isn't any glue looks nice and I would like to remove this glue; It would be great if the floor would be ready to go without any extra steps...sanding, etc... Any ideas on accomplishing this?

Some of the glues are water based. Have you tried soap and water? If it is water based use one of the green scrubber pads and remove the glue. If it is not water based use some mineral spirits and a scrubber pad. if you don't get too ruff it may not hurt the wood but might need to coated with a finish.
Good luck

I would try mineral spirits on a small area of the glue in an out of the way place. I would soak a rag in the mineral spirits and put it on the glue and let it sit for a few minutes and see if it softened the glue. It should not hurt the floor or the finish. I have used it to clean the glue off of vinyl after it dried and it worked great.

I used orange glow.... the citrus melted the glue. You could also use baby oil or wd-40

Go to a hardware store maybe they have something to use without damaging your floor.
