I have been thinking about hiring a cleaning company to come into my home and clean. I know that they dust, vacuum, clean windows...What else do they all do? About how much would it run for them to come into your home once every month or once every two months? Is it worth them coming into your home and clean, or should I just do it myself? Do they also organize? Do they clean hardwood floors?

I have a papasan chair, it's one of those round adjustable wicker chairs that people have in their conservatories etc. I need a new cushion for it but can't find anywhere that sells them. The pier does sell them but they're £60 each plus £15 postage which is ridiculous!

Has anyone bought one elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

I have a couch and love seat set that are recliners, and they are some of the best couches I have owned. However, since we have had them for a while, they need repair. Some of the repair involves repairing some of the broken wood frame and also the fabric. I don't know who to call and also wonder if it is cost effective to do so? I also have a daddy chair and it is still in excellent order. The stuffing is out on the love seat arms and on the couch, one of the seats wood in the back is broken, and on the other side the springs that hold up the foam under neat are gone. Who would you call for such repairs. Thank you.

There's a bee flying around my laundry room, and I'm terrified of getting stung. How do I get rid of it? We seem to get at least one every year down there. How can I figure out how they get in?

Our septic guy said they are too close to my system (tank, lift station and pipe that shoots out to the field). I know out neighbor likes these trees, that are volunteers from another tree nearby. Should I ask him if we can cut them down? Will the roots really effect my system that much? They are just a little taller than my tri-level house right now - about 20-25' maybe? With all the acorn that have fallen this year, I'm sure more will start growing soon. I'll have to sneak out and pull the new ones that he lets grow every year! I like trees too but I like a working septic system better! What if I ask him to cut them down and he refuses and my septic system fails because of it?

My master bedroom is quite large. The master bath is just off the side of the room. You can not see into the bath from the doorway........ should the decorating styles and colors of the bath match what is done in the bedroom or can they be completely different?

My septic field is next to this tree and the septic guy said it should really be cut down so it's roots don't damage my septic field. I hate to kill this beautiful tree! Is it possible to have a nursery come get it and move it? Can I sell it to a nursery? I even thought of it being a nice town-Christmas tree but then that would mean killing it......but I might have no choice? I actually have 2 of them but the other might be a safe distance away from the field... We didn't plant it there (former owners did) and I guess they weren't thinking! What should I do?

This is the regular/common lilac bush that's next to the house and is now a couple feet over the driveway-grew like crazy this year! Do I have to wait until spring after it blooms? Or can I cut it back now?

Hi there, I'm just getting in to improving my practical skills and want to try everything from basic, bread-and-butter mechanics through to simple building and household engineering tasks. Bearing in mind I'm an amateur and on a limited budget, what are the first essential tools I need to get my hands on, and would second-hand tools be acceptable? What should I look out for and avoid in tools?

Thanks

I grew up on the border of NYC, so a farmer I'm not, I now have a house in the suburbs, and started my Garden, I grew "Tomato's" pretty well, "Dill" grew well, "Basil" did o.k. BUT, My Pumpkins, they took off doing well REALLY well, WOW can those vines grow, I noticed a white film on the plant, it started at the stump, two weeks ago I was watering a forest of pumpkin plants, yesterday I cut out the last of the dead plants...WHAT HAPPENED ? Everyone around here says that this is natural for pumpkins (I'm not buying that), I spoke with an old I-talian man who had a wonderful garden, I noticed that he had no pumpkin plants, I asked "why" ? He said that they tend to get a white worm in them that follows the vine and kill's the plant, is this what happened to me, is there a way to deal with them next year ? I was able to get ONE pumpkin of normal "Halloween" size. My lettuce was well then it all shot up to about 3 feet high ??? is this the plant's end of life cycle ?
