There's a bee flying around my laundry room, and I'm terrified of getting stung. How do I get rid of it? We seem to get at least one every year down there. How can I figure out how they get in?

The laundry room is in the basement, the only door out is into the upstairs. Plus, if I leave the outside door open I'm going to get a ton of mosquitos. I'm in the midwest and now we're being punished even more for all that rain we got.

Grab a can of hairspray or spray starch and give him a good spray.. That will stop him from flying by "freezing" his wings.. good luck

I'm sure if you just opened the door and let it out it wouldn't harm you.
Bees generally only sting if they are put in danger; it's wasps you need to worry about getting stung by.

It doesn't necessarily have to die, so try and let it out of there.

Then look around the room for cracks in the walls or a dormant nest somewhere (maybe under the washing machine, it'll probably be in a dark place.)
If you can't find anything and you still get bees, hire a professional to clear the place out.

Good luck!

I'm around bees and wasps all the time. I hardly ever get stung cause I don't freak out or bother them, the person who freaks and acts all spazie always gets stung. Just go about your business and he will go about his. Better yet help him find his way back outside.

Don't kill it.

Instead get a bucket, or large jar and a piece of cardboard or something flat and big enough to cover the hole. Trap it in the container on the floor or against the wall and then slide the cardboard under the bucket to act as a lid, then go outside and let it out (or drop it on the floor and runaway).

It's less messy, you won't get stung and you won't have killed anything.

Why kill it ? bees are not aggresive like wasps and generally move very slowly just wait till it settles and stick a jam jar over the top of it,then chuck it outside.

Whack it with a rolled up newspaper. Instant death and no noxious fumes.
