I have planted a few new perrenial shrubs this year. My question is should I cut them back to the ground before winter, or should I just leave them loose their foliage and leave the bare branches there all winter? If I should cut them down, how far and when? If I should let them be, does the new growth come from the ground or from the bare branches next year?
ALSO, I have new daylilies this year. Should I cut these back to the ground as well? Is there any special care for them?

HOW ABOUT Rose of Sharon care?

My confusion comes from what to do with my floors.I rent a 2 bedroom side of a duplex and I want to do the shabby chic thing. The problem is I have hunter green carpet which sticks out like a sore thumb when i try to think of everything white/pink or cream. So what is a cheap flooring solution because my landlord said I could take it up BUT she couldnt replace it that I would have to.I know I could use a rug but its a good size room.So any suggestions would be appreciated.Under the carpet plain ole concrete slab.Thank you.Or how could I tie in hunter green?

I have a Dremel mini drill and would like to buy accessories (cut off wheel, engraving cutter, high-speed cutter).
I know Dremel has no shop in Singapore, but accessories of any other brand would do for me!
Please, I've look for it in all DIY I know and found none!

How do I get rid of reptiles like geckos and maybe snakes and armadillos in my front and back yard other than the expensive way of bringing in an extermination team? I tried those seeds on my lawn but it's a time hassle and the rain washes it away. Thanks.

I cant decide what to do with my bright colored room. I am young and love the bright colors but i think i might have to tone it down a bit? I was thinking doing the wall behind my bed a "sage" color? what ideas do you guys have?? The carpet is grey and id prefer to stay away from grey b/c the rest of the house is that color.

heres a picture...

I work on commercial air conditioners for a living. I mostly answer questions on here about air conditioners. I have noticed that so many other people answer these questions too. These are people who know nothing about an air conditioning system and often answer the question by telling the person to call a qualified technician. Obviously the people are on here asking a question in hopes to avoid the hassle and $$$ involved with calling a service company. It's either that or some totally off the wall bull_**** answer that makes no sense at all. Why do people waste all of our time answering questions when they have no clue what they are talking about??

I want an L-shaped banquette in my kitchen but can't find any info on how to build it. I would like to have hinges on the seat so it lifts up and I can store things underneath. I would also like to have a narrow shelf along the back to sit candles and other small decorative items. I don't know where to begin. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has done this.

I have spoken to my parents on the matter already, but my mother thinks it is the best house for our family. It is about 10 miles away from my school which I moved to two semesters ago. (I really don't want to move schools again). This means getting to school would involve a walk to a station, then a train to a main station, a 20minute train journey then a 30min walk to school.
I currently live within 20mins walk of my school. I really don't want to move - the house is ugly, the garden is small & my parents don't think they can afford to decorate it nicely & change the (really old-fashioned) kitchen.

The reason for the move is my father having a stroke last September, and he cannot work due to this. He can talk, drive, walk & write so is making good progress but is a pessimist.

My mum is trying to encourage him to move - he has lived within 10 minutes drive of my elderly grandmother since he was a baby.

HELP!

This is a country style decorative sign with painted letters (using stencils), primed with oil based white primer, I want it to look rustic, but I want it strong. The barnboard is roughly 6-10 inches wide and I'm using several pieces assembled together.

I live in South Carolina, and was wondering when is the best time to repot a boston fern. For the past week or so we have had heat index of 105 to 120 degrees. I moved my ferns to the back of the house to get morning sun instead of the evening however some of the leaves did turn brown but the fern is ok but I have some roots coming out of the bottom of the pot should i consider repotting ? If so what is the best potting soil to use? Should i break the plant apart to make more plants? This is the very first year i have been able to keep a fern without killing it therefore I'm proud of my ferns. So any advice on the winter care and transplanting would be great. thank you
