I was taught that you should use mineral oil, not vegetable oil, on a cutting board because vegetable oil could go rancid. I wouldn't want that smell in my dishwasher, either, but the repairman said to use vegetable oil, not mineral oil. Any experience with either?

Has anyone had any experience living with skunks in their yard? If so, did they become a problem? Recently, I have had a family of them move under my shed in the backyard. As of yet, they have not been a problem. I like them and enjoy watching them, but am wondering if I should trap them and move them somewhere else. I refuse to poison them.

Only thing I can guess is that most public means rooms have urinals, so you shouldn't normally be peeing standing up into a public toilet, so there is no need to lift the seat, so it doesn't need to complete ring shape to be able to lift up.

A poor finish with the wrong type of sealant; I want to use bathroom/kitchen sealant and not the outdoor uPVC silicone sealant. Problem is, its been put onto the ceiling (my a bodger) and emulsion / water-based paints won't help.

Cooks, fishermen and waiters handle smelly foods continulally so to remove these odors from their hands they rub stainless steel under running water and, Voila!, the odor goes away. How does this work? Is it chemical or just physical?

I have heard of some sort of little plastic things, but I don't know what they're called and where to find them. Basically, I am about to move my dinette set in the kitchen on the linoleum. There are four parsons chairs and each of the chair legs have a little hard black thing on the bottom. I think it's a little black circle. The base of the table is stone (or that heavy material) and I want to make sure the floor doesn't get damaged.

What can I buy and where do I get it from? Also, are there any other alternatives other than buying a 5x8 rug?

We planted pumpkins for my daughter, they are huge, oval, weigh at least 20-25 pounds and do not appear to wish to turn orange, is this because of the heat? Are they ruined?

I have an outlet that suddenly failed. I tested it with my multimeter and I got a reading of about 18-20 volts, where it should be about 120. Why would this happen? (nothing else "strange" has occured, all the outlets near it are fine etc.) Where is the best place to start fixing this? I have no idea!

I was plugging in my TV and game systems into an electrical outlet that worked fine last year, when suddenly all of the power from that outlet stopped. I checked the breakers, and they are all fine, so then I decided to take the receptacle out. The receptacle was a three-hole one, with two brass screws on the right and two silver screws on the left. There is also a green screw on the bottom-left.

The only two wires that were wired to it were two black wires, one connected to the top-right brass screw and the other to the top-left silver screw. The other silver screw was connected to the green screw via a short wire. Looking at some diagrams online, I'm not sure if that receptacle was wired correctly, although it did work for quite a while. How should I go about re-wiring a new receptacle to it, seeing as I'm not sure if those two black wires are two hot wires, or just one hot and one neutral. Thanks!

I'm looking for a mimosa pudica - otherwise known as The Sensitive Plant. I'm having a hard time finding one in Minnesota. Preferably in the metro area.

Have already called Bachman's and looked at Linder's website with no luck.

unless I can get this taken care of quickly.

Does anyone know the procedure for getting the federal government to fix damage done during an investigation?

This was done on Saturday, and it needs to be fixed by the 27th of August, when my wife returns from her Christian missions trip to Colombia. Otherwise I will have to explain to her that our fall budget will have to include fixing a door, and I suppose I'll have to tell her how it happened too.

Also, my fiancee is overweight.

Thanks!

What are the chances that there are more? I just eliminate any spiderwebs, dust, etc... by super-cleaning the patio in hopes that I got rid of any eggs, but how can I be sure that there was only one? Do they "travel" in groups of more than one usually? I've been searching the net and cannot find an answer to this question.
I'm totally freaked out. Eek!

I have NO IDEA what gorgeous tropical looking flowers I see out in this person's yard every time I pass by their house on the way to work.
But they are VERY tall, atleast 6 feet, lots of beefy leaves flowing over the sides--the flower appears to be light orange at a distance.
I WANT THOSE IN MY GARDEN !!! :-)
hey, got any idea what these might be??
thx

We just pulled up some kind of tile in our bedroom that had a cardboard type underlayment and under that were thousands of nails nailed into the hardwood floors. Is that how people put down those tiles in the 70's or 80's? What can I do with the 1/4" holes that were left when we pulled the nails out? I can't beleive someone would ruin floors like that!

The wall which boundaries our back yard and our neighbours property has been damaged by them when they were moving their campervan.
The wall extends from the side of their house (so is basically an extention of the wall between our back yard and their kitchen!), the damage is from their side but the 'hole' means we can now see into their garden! - we have received a letter from the council about it!

Currently, my walls are white & beautiful. I would like to paint the walls because white feels temporary. However, I am not painting the ajoining hallway or kitchen... just the living room. I don't want to use an off-white color because I don't think it will look right with 2 connected white rooms. I need a color. My other furniture is burnt red (2 chairs) and green (2 chairs). I have not purchased any wood furniture and would love your input on that as well. Thanks.

How can I remove tree stumps that range from 3 inches to 12 inches? I would like to get rid of the roots also. If I buy the tree rot won't the root grow back when I get rid of the tree stump? Does the stump decompose back into the ground or do I have to pick up the remains? How can I pull it out with a tractor or truck? Where do I place the attachement bolt? Can I even do that? Help I am at a lost? Please give some suggestions.

I have a Trimline treadmill with a 15A / 250 V fuse. A few weeks ago, the original fuse blew. I've tried to repair it by using new fuses, but each time the fuse has blown immediately after starting the treadmill. I'm using the same sized fuse as the original one. Is there anything I need to check for or anything like that?

We have alot of bats in our attic (which we never use). The door into the attic is nailed shut but we've seen some bat crawling through the vent that leads from the attic to the outdoors. We would like to see some more up close. Where can I get an affordable bat house? Does Lowes, Menards or Home Depot carry any?
