The first site is actually diagram on ceiling ties.

Not much information, Do you mean lateral restraint ties between ceiling joists and roof members and walls? If so these are L shaped slotted galvanised metal bars usually spanning at least three joists or rafters and hooked over the inner leaf of the cavity wall. Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick.

"Simpson StrongTie" is a well known mfr. of building ties...go to their website and check out what's there and what to do with it. Big-box home centers carry most of their products.
