My sinks were backing up and the last time this happened I was able to snake out the clog in the basement... Hiowever, this time the snake has become completely stuck. How can I get it out. It is a non-motorized auger snake.

The floors are light wood and there is a hunter green tile FP (which I will remodel at a later date, but have to make it work for now)
I do not want to choose colors that will look bad with the red. The FP is NOT on the accent wall(that would look like Christmas!)

There is a hole in the wall of my basement that used to be where the sump pump hose drained outside. I recently had my basement waterproofed and, when they put in a new sump pump, they did not use this hole so it is not just an open hole that is letting water run in. What is the best substance to fill the hole? It's about 2 inches across. Would something like "Great Stuff" work? Of do I need something more hard core?

I have two white wires sticking out of my ceiling. on the directions of my voltmeter it says: to determine which wire is hot on either two wire or three wire AC outlets touch the black probe to the ground wire and the red probe in the alternate wires. If the ground wire is properly grounded and the red probe is attached to the hot wire, the voltmeter will glow. The problem is, however, that i do not have a ground wire to do this. What should i do now?

It was as thick and long as my middle finger, with TONS of legs. My friend screamed in the kitchen, and sure enough, there it was, lingering between two tomatoes. I moved one of the tomatoes and it scuttled off, and now we're unsure of it's whereabouts.

WHAT THE HELL IS IT?

There's someone here in the neighborhood who takes snapshots of my garden when I'm not home. [someone told me] and neighbors come by sometimes to take a look
cats entertain themselves walking thru the cornstalks
and children have picnics next to it.
Do you have any fun stories about your garden, people, animals please??
it's nice to see people enjoying themselves

Hi. Me and my husband just bought a vacation home in SW Florida (Ft. Meyers area). Anyway, we also have 2 kids - 7 year old girl and 3 year old boy. The house is only 2 bedrooms, so the kids will be sharing a room when we go.

Need help with some decorating ideas. Do you like the idea of blue/white flowery comforter set for daughter and blue/white stripes for son? Or maybe just bright colors - like bright pink and green? Not sure what direction to go. Any help?

BTW, the furniture is like a white distressed wood. Thank you!!

I am having my new range delivered tomorrow afternoon. I had a slide-in electric range previously and it was hard wired in. I was told that the new range will need a 4-prong outlet. I went and bought a 4 prong outlet and becan looking at how to wire it in. My house has a 3-wire 220v source. I have a 4 wire plug and apparently my new range will be sent with a 4-wire plug.

What do I do? I am not going to re-wire my house. I need to know how to connect the 3 wires in the 4 wire outlet.

Black-hot, black/red-hot, bare copper-ground.
No Neutral.

I found a website that shows all the upcoming estate sales in my area with several pictures of the items. Judging from the pictures, it looks like there's a lot of NICE furniture and such that can be at these sales. So, what exactly are these sales like? Do the higher end items (ex: an oak armoire) go for a ridiculuous amount of money, or is it still possible to get a great bargain? Also, do you bid on the items or are the items priced to begin with?

Any info is appreciated (even info I didn't ask about). Tell me your experiences at these sales. Thanks, folks!

I just bought new burner for my grill, but at the connection from the nozzle, behind the temperature knob, there is a huge gap, I suppose to let air in and mix with the gas on its way to the burner. It looks odd though; its such a big hole in the metal hose... won't the pressurized gas just leak out into the air when I light it up? It looks like my grill is about to become and an incendiary bomb.

Our 20-year-old front stoop is surrounded by brick (like the
crust in a pie). The concrete center of the stoop (5'x5') has
gradually settled front to back by about 1 1/2" to 2." Can
fresh cement bring the stoop up to snuff? If not, is there
a concrete-like material loaded with plasticisers that would
grip the surface of the old concrete and look attractive? In
the end, will the old cement have to be broken up and be
carried away only to be replaced entirely? I do not intend this
to be a DIY project.

When I flush, the water runs in the tank, but it is like not enough to flush the toilet. I have to flush at least twice to get stuff to go down. I live alone and nothing has gotten dropped (that I know of). Inside the tank, there is some type of cylinder around where the flapper is.
