where does it leak at ...the drain or under the machine...if its the drain you need to have it snaked out...if its leaking underneath the machine it is the pump....If the drain is stopped up the pump to the machine would cause an extremely large amount of water from the washer to end up in the floor....if its the pump leaking you could still have water in the floor but nowhere near as much as you would if the drain was stopped up...

my husband is a plumber and says to first turn the water shut off valves off behind the washer they will ether turn a half turn or if theres a bib then you will have to turn them to the right untell they stop this will insure that your water is off and you can now check for any visable leaks such as the water hoses in the back that connect to the wash mach. make sure that they are connected tight by putting a wrench to the nuts and tightning them to the right again remember this when tightning anything righty tighty lefty loosey all right now if that does not fix the problem then check to see if theres water are moister around the bibs i asked you to tighten if so it might be the packing nuts if you fill comfortable doing so you can tighten these nuts to this is a nut that is located under the handles that i said to turn off all you need to do is give them a qurter turn and that will stop them from leaking if its none of these problems dont bother calling a plumber he will not be able to help you and you will end up paying him a 100 buck then youll have to call a appliance tech now if shutting off the water stops the problem then continue with the suggestion i said if not then you might have a plumbing leak behind the wall then i suggest calling a plumber as soon as possible but if it stops the problem then you can wait tell tommorow to call a plumber becouse if you call tonight your going to be spending 2 to 3 times more on an emergency call so youll need to decide if its an emergency are not please if you dont feel comfortable doing the thing i suggested dont do it and call a proffesinal. my husband would only charge $85.00 for a normal call like this but if you called him tonight he would charge around $200.00 for waking him up so i hope i helped

This is a very common problem. Yes, Expose the drain pipe and almost brutally 'snake it' through there.Trust me the plumbing can take it. When it is clear, stop using powder detergents and Heavy liquid dsetergents such as tide.

Take a close look to see where the leak is coming from, but you dont sound like a DIY person, so call for service.

maybe the hose for the drain has a pinhole or a crack in it
or maybe the pump is leaky, could be the drain is slow also.

might not be your pipe at all. Might be the pump. Call the maytag man.

before you decide to replace the drain hose try to check the connection if it's not loose.
