There is a hole in the wall of my basement that used to be where the sump pump hose drained outside. I recently had my basement waterproofed and, when they put in a new sump pump, they did not use this hole so it is not just an open hole that is letting water run in. What is the best substance to fill the hole? It's about 2 inches across. Would something like "Great Stuff" work? Of do I need something more hard core?

I meant to say "it is now just a hole that water runs in" (rather than "it is not just a hole that water runs in"....)

A good quality urethane or butyl sealer designed for concrete will work. In my opinion Sika makes the best sealer available. You will have to contact them to find a retailer in your area.

If you can fill and seal the hole from the outside rather than the inside you will have a better seal. Fill with mortar or patching concrete then cover with roofing cement or something waterproof. It'll never leak.

Thin set mortar like you set ceramic tile with mixed thick placed on the hole will seal it water tight.....you may need to put a couple of coats on the wall to make it smooth then paint it and no one will notice there was ever a hole!

at a hardware store, buy a can of Water proof sealer for concret, [putty style] there is another product called hydroseal, this will work great also,
scrape the hole first to clean loose material off then shove the seal into the hole, and smooth it .

I would tape up each side of the hole. then poke a small hole on the top of one side, and a hole just large enough for you to inject some silicon calking from your local hardware store. it will take a while for it to dry properly with the tape on it like that, but just let it go for a few days to make sure.
