With all due respect "FAIR" is relative.

You have multiple issues and contractors that may be involved or specialize, if not a DIY.

Delivery and off loading
Hangers
Mudders/finishers
Painters

Again, with no offense meant "AVERAGE" is relative as well; but without detail, not many I know could accurately quote you an online price. I will tell you however that I might; as a contractor, charge you $50 per hour to do the job, and be gone

I wouldnt pay someone to finish the drywall if you plan on texture painting. That type off paint job hides all imperfections so just DIY one coat of lightweight drywall mud, sand once, wipe down the walls and get a price to paint or paint that yourself as well. Its so easy to do but the finishing drywall part of the job is what will cost you the most. I paid $300 for someone to finish drywall in my very small bathroom

Without knowing the circumstances of the room, lots of corners, off-sets, if the sheetrocker made more seams than necessary, and furniture or stuff in the room to work around.... because all of this if factored in the pricing when a contractor provides you an estimate.
Additionally depending on your location will also factor into the pricing of the job.....

As a general rule of thumb, I would figure $1.00 per square foot for finishing the sheetrock and texture paint takes longer to apply, I would figure $1.50 per square foot. (this is labor only)

Although I provide generic pricing for you, please keep in mind that all the factors mentioned above are not calculated in that pricing.

Hope this helps,
